Forerunner 35 was better

I've been wearing my new Forerunner 55 for about a month. The functions are very confusing, and the watch face is difficult to read despite is very large size. Font it too small, too much information on each screen, difficult to 'back up', cannot even read the time because the hour is faint (and too big). Its like they could not agree on the size of the font, so they made the time extra large and pale and the rest of the functions to small to read. I like the shape and size and i'm hoping the watch band holds up better than my Forerunner 35. I like that it is thinner than its predecessor, Forerunner 35 (which I had 3 of because the band kept breaking at point where it was affixed to the face of the watch and was not replaceable).

Not ready, out of the box.

I wanted a running watch that displays distance run, pace, and time running. What I got was a watch that has a TIMER, as the main part of the display. I wanted to save my run, and there are several choices. It should vibrate when it completes the lap. Very weak. Last week I ran 14 miles. Mile 6 was 2 minutes for .2 mile. I don’t know what happened to the rest of that lap. Apple Watch was the backup and recorder 14 minutes for that mile. That has never happened before with a Garmin watch. I have to download the manual and see if I can get the watch to display the proper data. I shouldn’t need to do it. If I was running on a track I might use a timer but not for running on the road.

issues

had my 55 for over a month now and it was a upgrade from the 45. I replaced the 45 because the strap connection point broke and the 55 had a normal strap point. Now unlike the 45, my 55 at times will lock up when it receives a email alert. This has happened three times and when it does, the 55 is unusable. Not sure why this happens, but I drop back to my 45 (super glue is great) and wait for the 55 to unlock itself. Very disappointing.

Awesome Fitness Watch

When my last fitness tracker stopped working just before a bicycle tour I was participating in was scheduled to start I purchased the Forerunner. I am glad I did as it recorded each day’s mileage and elevation gain. It does much more than I expected.

Good watch for a runner

I bought the Forerunner 55 to replace my 35. I like all the features, even though I'm still learning what it will do and how it works. My only complaint is the watch face. It's almost to dark to read unless I'm in good light. I can press the light button, but that's a pain. I should have a brighter, easier to read, watch face.

Beyond My Expetitations

As a marathon runner, I have had many Garmin Forerunners over the last 20 years. My previous Forerunner 235 was discontinued. I watched Youtube reviews and decided the Forerunner 55 would meet my running needs. The technology upgrades were beyond my expectations. It is a compact watch filled program that meets my running, walking and swimming needs and the price is right. You will need to download the Owner's Manual. Garmin continues to be on the cutting edge of the everyday runner's exercise needs.

Love this watch

I bought these about 4 weeks ago and it’s worth every penny. I’ve owned a Fitbit in the past and will not go back to that. The extra services you have to pay for with Fitbit are included with the Garmin ecosystem. That was main reason I decided to switch and don’t regret it. I will have to say my favorite aspect of this watch is the coach function and adapting training program it has kept me motivated to keep up with my runs and provides great scheduling and suggestions. The Coaching format along with the body battery have been great.

Pretty good so far

I have loved Garmin for years! I've had forerunners since the 15. With each one there has been updates and changes. The 55 is no different. I went with the aqua since it's my favorite color! I feel like it fits better on my arm with the removable bands instead of the slightly curved band of my 45. It does everything I need, tracking steps, heartrate, and everything else. I love the breath work option, and stair step option. I'm working on getting a better fitness age and volmax. It seems on this one though that the buttons have a more springy feel to them, but works good. Customer service at garmin is always accommodating and helpful.

Marathon Training

I decided to sign up for the St. Jude full marathon in December. I purchased Forerunner 55 to help with my workouts. I had one of the original Forerunners 15 plus years ago. I love the new Forerunner 55. I can get a satellite connection within 5 seconds or less going outside. It is great for my long runs or my triathlons. I was also amazed at how light it was on my arm. The Garmin app is pretty cool and easy to use. I am very happy with my purchase.

The product suites my needs as an athlete. I have taken it biking, cycling, hiking, and put it through a lot. It helped re-define fitness for me allowing for fantastic tracking of my activity. Even when the watch is not connected to the my phone, it stores the activity and syncs once bluetooth connection came back.
