The watch is fantastic. It tracks all my metrics for a wide variety of outdoor activities. I have tracked many hikes, sup activities, swimming and more. Would highly recommend this watch. Does not show route from AllTrails, but not a dealbreaker. Watch is good for beginners and experts alike, very user friendly.

I finally pulled the trigger and bought a watch to help me monitor my cycling, hiking and backcountry skiing. This watch has all the bells and whistles to monitor my activities and progress throughout their respective seasons. UNFORTUNATELY the laser that this watch (and all watches with a heart rate sensor - Apple, Suunto, etc.) cannot read through heavily tattooed skin! Total bummer. Around my wrist I got zero HR, but the moment I slid it to my hand (that isn't tattooed), the HR popped right up. Upon further investigation, I discovered this is a common frustration amongst tattooed people. Oh well, at least it was an easy return process. Hopefully there'll be a viable option in the not so distant future, as the info this watch tracks would be greatly appreciated!

This watch has replaced my apple watch se and I'm OK with that. I love how it feels like a standard digital watch while having all of the smart functions I need/want. Best upgrade I could say for me was nylon velcro bands from Garmin as it is more comfortable and adjustable.

I wish they had made it out of impervium. I had to replace my last Garmin Instinct due to massive welding spatter damage. I mean it's 2024 can't they make a watch that can stand up to arc welding spatter? That was sarcasm, Although I did damage my last watch. I now wear a welding sleeve.

I got this primarily to wear during MTB rides, replacing my Apple Watch because it is utterly deficient - particularly but not limited to its incredibly poor battery life (less than 1 day) and its annoying tendency to just "ASSUME" I want it to do something, record something, track something and constantly chirp at me and distract me with no intuitive means of making it stop! So...I came up with this Garmin Instinct 2 based on a fair amount of research and I am completely happy with the purchase. I normally wear an automatic timepiece - so the vast amount of data, functions, and "buttonology" of any GPS/smartwatch is a little overwhelming to me, TMI in some cases, but that's OK. Promptly after purchasing this, I put my automatic away and have been wearing the Garmin on a daily basis. Battery life is INCREDIBLY GOOD - you can go days and days without charging, and it charges fast when you need to. I particularly like the sleep data, and the ability to customize the watch face and features very easily via the Garmin Connect app and IQ store. I am still learning how to get the most out of this thing, that's a work in progress but simply a fantastic purchase. It is rugged, understated, and highly functional. Zero complaints. Bye bye Apple Watch...stop nickel and diming us on battery life!!!

I used to have a Venu SQ, which I had damaged a lot from hiking and climbing, and eventually dropped it while climbing. I bought the Instinct 2 because I wanted a watch better suited to long days hiking, climbing or trail running. I love the versatility of the controls with only buttons (touchscreen was very hard to work in the winter on the Venu SQ). The vibration on the watch is also strong enough to wake me up, which is a great silent alarm for camping around other people. My only complaint is that some of the watch faces don't have as much customizability as I would like, however I am absolutely willing to sacrifice that in exchange for a overall more powerful GPS watch. 10/10

I hesitated to buy the INSTINCT 2 to replace my perfectly functioning INSTINCT. But very happy I did. There are some significant. Upgrades. * Battery life is 3 weeks rather than 36 hours. * I can now monitor sleep since I don't have watch charging overnight. * INSTINCT 2 records heart rate underwater in pool and open water swims. Now I can see how much time I am in each of the 5 training zones. * uses new features on the CONNECT app. Additionally, I was very happy that I just added the new watch to the CONNECT app and the app collects all data from both watches. With all the wearables on the market it was hard to decide which is best for me. Because of the activities that it monitors, heart rate, sleep, steps, intensity minutes it monitors the things that I want and my doctor says to watch for my health. Overall, a great upgrade from gen. 1 INSTINCT!
