This is awful

I don't usually write reviews, but will make an exception for this. This tastes NOTHING like General Tso's chicken. The sauce is way too sweet and doesn't have the same flavor of the traditional version. Spend your money on the frozen egg rolls and/or pot stickers.

satisfies those Chinese takeout cravings

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just tried the InnovAsian General Tso's Chicken and honestly, it was way better than I expected for a frozen meal. From the moment I pulled it out of the freezer, I was craving something warm and comforting—and this totally hit the spot. The chicken pieces were nicely breaded, and after heating them up, they had a great balance of crispiness on the outside and tenderness inside. The sauce was definitely the star of the show: sweet, tangy, and with just the right amount of heat to give it that classic General Tso's kick. It reminded me of good takeout, but without having to leave the house or wait for delivery. That said, it's not perfect. Some of the smaller chicken bits were mostly batter, which made them less satisfying than the bigger chunks with more meat. And while the sauce is delicious, there's a lot of it—so if you prefer a lighter coating, I'd recommend using about three-quarters of the packet instead of the whole thing. Still, the flavor is spot-on and it pairs perfectly with rice or even some steamed veggies on the side. Overall, I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It's quick, easy to make, and satisfies those Chinese takeout cravings without the extra cost or effort. I'll definitely be keeping a box or two in my freezer for those nights when I want something flavorful and comforting but don't feel like cooking from scratch.

Terrible Sauce!

My family loves various styles of General Tso's chicken, we get them from lots of different retailers. However, this particular style did not go over well. The sauce was too spicy and hot and there was a very boozy after taste. Also, both of the sauce packets were ruptured and flooding into the box in the freezer. This is not what we like when we buy frozen General Tso. I just wanted to share my thoughts to let others know: too spicy, too hot and very boozy sauce. My kids were most objectionable.

Bring Back Kahiki!

InnovAsian is a really poor substitute for Kahiki. This Sam’s carries other Kahiki products, so I’m not sure how the InnovAsian sales rep talked them into replacing Kahiki with this. After seeing the other reviews, perhaps I can hope this was two shipments in one: the first and the last. InnovAsian has small portions of chicken, too much coating ( plus mediocre quality — it isn’t at all like tempura, it’s more “bready” ), and a coyingly sweet sauce without enough savory or spice to balance it.

BRING BACK KAHIKI

So being in a hurry I bought some of this as a replacement for our usual brand... it was a decision I will regret from here on out. My wife is now looking for other retailers that carry the other brand because of how bad the asianimposter chicken was. It was tough and the sauce didn’t have the right flavor. Hopefully we can still find a decent amount of items to buy at sams to keep it worth having a membership but in our household kahiki gen tso has at minimum been a once a month purchase for the last few years.
