Always buy thighs on a regular basis. Great price and large pieces. Much better than buying it at sams club versus the grocery store. Just freeze the pieces you don't need immediately.

Sam's Club chicken is delivered to the stores in a frozen state. It is also plumped with a brine prior to being frozen. There is an absorbent pad underneath the chicken parts to catch the brine that leaks out of the meat during the thaw. The packages are weighed when frozen, but the actual thawed weight of the product will be about 10% LESS than the stated weight on the price label. That 10% shrinkage is found in the absorbent pad underneath the product. So when you buy chicken thighs at $1.38/pound, your 8 lb package will really cost about $1.52/lb.
