Evolve Plant Based Protein Shake, Double Chocolate (11 fl. oz., 18 pk.)

I was surprised that this shake was quite good - and plant based also.

Exactly what I wanted.

This really tastes awful. It's ok with lots of coffee in it as a mocha type drink, but does not taste good by itself.

Not a fan

I didn't care for the taste of the plant-based drink. It wasn't the chocolate, it was the taste of the plants.

Healthy, but not for me!

The Evolve plant based protein shake tastes terrible to me. It has an aftertaste that doesn't stop. I had to drink something else just to get rid of the aftertaste. The nutritional value is seriously lacking when compared to other protein shakes. I know I will never get this brand again. Yuck!

Persistent Bad Aftertaste

I was given a single bottle of Evolve Double Chocolate Plant-Based Protein Shake to sample, so this review is based on first impressions only. As for taste, it's a pretty standard chocolate protein shake. Emphasis on ‘Protein'. We all know that slightly ‘off' taste of a protein shake, and this was no different. I didn't get a huge chocolate flavor from it, but could definitely tell it was meant to be chocolate. There is also that extremely sweet after taste standard with Protein Shakes. It seems slightly thinner than my regular protein shake, but has a very similar consistency to low-fat milk (see pour video). 

Now for the ingredients. I like that Evolve uses pea protein - though it does have 10 fewer grams of protein than my go-to protein shake. For me, the best feature was the 10 grams of Dietary Fiber - my go-to only has 1 gram. Ideally, that high protein, high fiber combo will keep you satiated longer, but as I only had 1 shake, I can't say for certain. 

Overall, my first impression is that this is a perfectly fine protein shake. I didn't like it enough to switch from my go-to, but might pick up a case of Evolve and supplement it in on occasion.
