One Day Use

I had a lessor model of Fellows before and I jammed it in a big way. As I opened it up to check on why it croaked, I was impressed by the heavy duty gears. The gear that stripped was a plastic one right off the motor drive gear. A lock pin also jumped off one of the cutter shafts. Although I was disappointed (my wife also) the unit jammed to this extent with stopping first, it does show how tough the shredder components are. I am still curious why my older unit died (W11C) and will dissect (do a post op) further. I also felt it was time for a heavier duty unit. The fact I purchased another Fellow shows that I don't fully blame the older unit for the failure. I shredded a bunch of built-up documents just after putting the new unit together and was pleased with the performance: hope it continues.

Great shredder!

This paper shredder will take up to 12 sheets (depending on thickness) and has no problems with staples, credit cards, etc. It's very quick as long as you don't put too many pages in at once, but if you do, it takes some time for the shredder to put things in reverse and then forward again. That's the "Jam Proof" technology working. You can override it by pressing a combination of two buttons on the shredder. I've found that if you can fit it through the paper slot, it can munch it up into tiny pieces without causing any jams or problems. It takes quite a while to get hot and once it does, it puts itself on a break until it is cool enough to be used again. I believe this is saving it's life, whereas it would probably overheat from the amount of paper shredding I force upon it in one sitting. The pull out paper bin is a very nice feature, but you have to be a little firm with it to click it back into place after dumping the paper shreds. If you had some top secret stuff to shred, I would suggest a shredder that cuts into smaller shreds, but for your average "I want to protect myself from identity theft" issues, this should do just fine. It's super quiet as well... my cats aren't even threatened by it! All in all, I'm very pleased.

KEEP ON SHREDDING

I purchased the PS-79Ci because it was small enough to fit under my desk where it could function as both a shredder and waste basket, plus I read good reviews on a resellers’ website. I am very happy with the choice. I have had the shredder about a year and it has performed superbly. I give the PS-79Ci a drink of Fellowes’ Shredder Oil every week or two and it handles the shredding chores quietly and safely. However, I abused the PS-79Ci Memorial Day. Keep in mind that that this is a PS = Personal Shredder. I had to shred some of private papers, about 100 pounds of them. I shredded these papers all evening and into the night. I would guess about 6 or 7 hours. After shredding about 95 pounds of copy paper, or about two, forty gallon plastic garbage bags full, a red light went on and the shredder refused to shred. Oops, the manual says “Overheat”. I thought I “fried” the motor, which with most other shredders, I would have. So, I unplugged the shredder and went to bed. When I got up the next morning I plugged the PS-79Ci back in. It worked and has been working like a new machine ever since. AWESOME. Can you guess what brand name shredders I recommend to folks?

Well Priced

My medical office uses 2 Fellowes shredders ever day purging files as well as daily paper work. I just bought my third Fellowes shredder due to # 2 no longer completely doing the job after being used for 4 years. My first purchase is still in use. There was no question on my part as to which shredder to order as I have been so happy with the first 2 Fellowes shredders. THANK YOU!!

Awesome!

Ths paper shredder costs a little more, but it is solidly built, and super quiet. The jam proof feature is worth every penny as is the sensor for little fingers. We also appreciate the larger bin size so we don't have to empty the bin so frequently. If you are looking at an $80.00 shredder with lesser features and quality I recommend shelling out the extra cash for this one because with the cheaper shredders you are just going to end up buying another one anyway once the motor burns out from being overstuffed.

Good Shredder

I bought this shredder to replace an older one that became jammed with too many pages. I wanted a shredder that would do a decent number of pages at a time as well as have a good duty cycle, and this one fit the bill. I've used it quite a lot so far and it has performed as advertised, including not accepting an envelope that was too think...it just stopped and backed it out...no jam! I would recommend this as a good, medium duty shredder for a home office.

Quiet!

I have an old Fellowes, model PS55 which I purchased for my mother probably in 1997. She has passed and I have used it continuously since 2000. It did a fine job but was noisyand took a lot of time when shredding a lot of paper. i purchased this shredder for two main reasons: increase the amount of material and cross-cut results. I was impressed with the quietness while going through mounds of old files. i used to worry about staples with my old shredder but now I don't even think about them. it does a fine job on old credit cards and I feel safer with the cross-cut features when I recycle the material produced.

Excellent Shredder

This shredder replaced an older different brand that I had for home use, the Fellows model is slightly larger but it is much better. It is definitely much quieter than other brands I have looked at. The pull-out bin makes emptying the shredded documents easy and fast. It also allows for more pages to be shredded at once - speeding up the shredding process. I feel this would even work for a regular personal office shredder - not at home. With the color lights on the right side it quickly indicates to you if you are trying to shred too much at once.
