Satisfaction and Safety

Just replaced our Fellowes shredder with another new Fellowes shredder after using every day in my office for over 9 years. The other MAIN reason we buy Fellowes shredders is the fact it has the safety if anyone (small children or out pets or others with long hair, etc.) stops in and should accidentally go near this shredder it immediately stops. This should be a law that all shredders have this. I saw a video years ago when a dog got his tongue caught in a shredder and I never got over that site. Thank god not our dogs but regardless the thought that it can happen is more than enough reason to purchase only a shredder that has this safety feature. The replacement unit seems slightly upgraded with a timer that shuts the unit off if not in use a while and starts right back up if you insert a paper to shred (leaving that safety factor still in tack). The shredder is definitely a winner for all the above reasons

Not all I had hoped for

I purchased this machine for shredding paper to use as bedding in a llama operation. It is very time consuming to use this machine. After about 4 bins of shredded paper, I have to wait for it to cool down. I shred paper every 2 weeks, and it takes me a good 3 days to get the volume I need shredded. Not what I was hoping for or wanting. For a "desk job" person, this machine would be great for anyone wanting to have a machine that can produce volume of shredded paper, this is not it. It was probably my fault, I should have spent mega bucks and bought a large commercial shredded in the beginning, but this machine said commercial use. My bad and their bad - not enough information for my needs. Now, I have to spend mega bucks to get what I want and need.

Excellent product

Excellent product. Sturdy construction. Very good value. The only negative was the bin. It was impossible to remove a full bag from the bin without ripping it due to the plastic protrusions on the inner wall. Other reviewers mentioned this problem, but not as many as I would have thought. We are currently not using any trash bag insert, but shred directly in to the bin.

Being a teacher, I am bombarded with tons of letters and paper that I truly do not need piling up and of course mail wth confidential numbers, etc. on them. I love takiing the time to finally go through what I want to get rid of and can just press the button and get rid of the dreadful piles of paper. I have an office in my home now, and the shredder fits compliments the environment. the 2010-2011 school year is going to be organized, clean and run efficiently. I thank my mom and sister for investing in this product.

Shredding with Style and Grace

Never owned a paper shredder nor used one before. Always tore up private papers by hand. Would take 2 or 3 hours to destroy old tax-related papers every year to make room for the new ones. Thought I'd buy a cheap shredder, but when I went online and read reviews, it became clear that cheap shredders jam and/or overheat. So, I decided to buy a good one. The Fellowes PS-79Ci is reviewed very favorably by a large number of customers, so I bought it. The day my new Fellowes shredder arrived, it quickly turned old bank and broker statements along with other papers into bits of confetti that could never be reassembled. Unfortunately, there was no parade onto which I could throw the stuff from a high floor and get away with it. The Fellowes never jammed--just reversed itself automatically on the few occasions I tried to stuff too many pages into it. The finger-sensing area around the paper slot prevents any chance of injury. A series of lights shows how close a group of pages nears feeding capacity. That feature made it easy for me to develop a feel for the thickness of pages that could be fed into the shredder at one time. There's another indicator light showing when the bin is full. I expected any paper shredder to be noisy, but this one just purrs. It's very quiet for a machine that voraciously eats as many pages as quickly as the Fellowes does. One critical comment is that a compact stack of flat pages turns into a much larger pile of tiny pieces, buoyant with air--like popcorn except that it fills from the top down instead of the bottom up. So, prepare to empty the bin frequently and vacuum up a mess after transferring confetti from the bin to a trash bag if you don't dump the clippings into a very large container. I didn't bother using a plastic bag in the bin which might have been cleaner. Too bad I don't have more items to shred. Maybe I'll knock on some neighbors' doors and volunteer to shred for them because it's so much fun to use the new shredder. To be serious, the PS-79Ci is a fine product that does what it was designed to do: It shreds papers quickly, quietly, effortlessly, and with style and grace.

Best Shredder Ever

As a small business owner, I'm on my third shredder. But the shredder...the PS-79Ci is by far the best shredder I have ever owned. I can hardly believe how easily it goes through a huge stack of papers! And the design features are awsome. It slides in and out from under my desk like it was floating, due to the easly glide wheels. And I never have to guess if the waste collector basket is full...I not only can see the level of paper waste through the window..but the indicator light lets me know before I ever check. The safty sensor is accurate without being a pain, while the paper density guage is perfect for letting me know if I'm over loading the feeder. And Quiet...wow...you hardly know it's running! I couldn't be happier with this shredder! Craig

I'm In Shredder's Heaven!

I had a shredder. It was frightfully heavy (it was a booger to move around), loud, and constantly jammed. (The cleaning crew probably cursed me for all the chunks of jammed paper scattered on the floor.) I talked my boss into getting a new one. It was the PS-79ci. It is everything the "old" shredder is not. It is lighter, but that's really not an issue because the Fellowes is on wheels (brilliant!) The control features are intuitive and easy to use (the blue "one" light is appealing and pleasant). It's much quieter, and hasn't even hinted at a jam. I am now looking for things to shred. I love this machine!

Really like so far, but I'm being very careful not to run through sticky seals, no envelopes, no staples or credit cards. I've already ruined about 3 ordinary shredders--not taking any chances with this one. Also bought oil sheets. Very happy so far.

Fellowes paper shredder

The product arrived fairly quickly and is what I expected. It will easily handle 10-12 sheets of paper with ease and has a flip down slot for credit cards cd's etc.. I like the feature that indicates when the paper can is getting full and it pulls out for easy emptying.

Fellows 79Ci Shredder

This Shredder is a bit costly for the average person doing stuff at home but after having to buy two previous shredders costing $50. a piece I decided to go for broke, good news I had no regret, this shredder does exactly what thy say it would do, it shred's and shred's and just keeps going I had no problem with this shredder I would reccommend it to all my family and friends very good.
