A beauty to behold

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We finally resolved to replace our faithful, ten-plus-year-old, 42" flat screen that had served us very well. We spent significant time researching the various options available to us and decided on the LG OLED line. Viewing the LG and competitors multiple times in our local store, we eventually made the purchase. In short, the colors and images on this television are vastly superior - especially in 4K shows. We were discovering new details in our favorite shows and movies, even after viewing them numerous times. The sound quality from the standard speakers is terrific as well. If there is a small weak spot, WebOS and the remote - in particular the cursor functionality - did take some getting used to, and still show some minor quirks. Beyond that, we would heartily recommend this TV and the LG brand for other electronics.

Great TV with excellent picture but small problem

We had this TV professionally installed and it produces the best picture on the market. Unfortunately, we have one small problem that faces those who want excellent sound to match the picture. You cannot use a soundbar and a blue tooth hearing aid transmitter at the same time. The lack of an analog output and the restriction of having to use the internal TV speaker only if using the digital/optical output for hearing aids is a problem. For the amount of money this TV costs one would think there would be more options than this for those who need both. Those owners who want quality sound while accommodating viewers who need hearing aids to understand voice dialogue at the same time.

Game Changer for Gaming and Movies

I bought this TV a month ago, and it has been a game changer for watching movies, and playing video games. It is crazy the colors and picture quality you get with the next gen consoles on this TV. Cons: needs at least a sound bar and subwoofer. Not great if you are in a bright room with lots of light.

still a great TV

I've had the TV for a month and have noticed how much better the picture is after streaming shows I had been watching on my previous TV. Image details are much more crisp with better detail and with the better contrast makes the shows even more enjoyable. Also like the ease of the remote. We have Roku and my wife doesn't even use the Roku remote to go through the input to watch shows, she just uses the TV remote dedicated buttons for Netflix and Disney plus and also the list of supported apps. Wish the library had some of the other apps we use, as I we were not able to find a couple of the apps we use regularly related to network TV streaming services, but can't remember which of the Paramount/Peacock/ABC we can't stream from the TV directly, but 2/3 of those services aren't supported so have to keep Roku. I also watch a lot of Motortrend TV, and I know that is not supported.

Terrific picture quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very happy with the tv. Watching PBS's "From Sea to Shining Sea" special felt like I could step right into the scene. Dramatic depth and fantastic color. Sound not as spectacular. Reason for 4 star is the manual. Print is too small. Step by step not very thorough. Remote instructions need more detail.

Finishing Touches

LG's 83" OLED evo is the center piece for my combination theater/home gym. Bluray movie's and concerts are rendered perfectly. Even older dvd concerts look great with LG's 4k upscaling. With overhead lighting causing reflection it's best practice diminishing the lights for a true theater effect. Daylight viewing without overhead lights works quite well. No reason for 8k as this set is stellar 4k.

Impressive Performance and Feature Set Execution

Beautiful performing TV. The Home screen and settings menu layouts are excellent to interface with. Other than picture performance this was just as important to me. Several modes to choose from according to the content you choose and your room conditions. The TV display calibration out of the box spot on. I have not needed to make any color, tint, or hue adjustments. Motion handling is great. Wireless and Ethernet setup was easy and successful the first time with no drop outs. I normally use an Audio Video Receiver for sound to external speakers but did run the internal TV speakers on the start up trial runs and they are very decent TV speakers.

Great picture, quirky software

The picture quality is exceptional in every way, it is by far the clearest, richest TV we have ever seen. The Streaming options and LG channels are also a great bonus. The software driving the TV is very clunky. We have used the TV with every smart feature turned on, with every feature off, and with selected features activated. Consistently, the most annyoing feature is the Dolby vision and recommendations for content based on its format. If you prefer Vivid as your default setting, the software will still auto.atically change to gaming or recommend alternative settings even when you have the "auto" features turned off. A particular annoyance is with gaming - on the Xbox, it automatically changes to Dolby Vision Game mode, and if you set it to Vivid, it will keep that setting until you go to you home menu. Even if you stay in the game and just bring up the home menu overlay for Xbox, when you return to the game it resets the picture to Dolby Game mode. We completely deactivated Game settings from the TV menu, and AI control of picture baaed on content, and it still does it. The picture smoothing lag when watching regular TV is annoying - taking up to 15-30 seconds at times to bring the channel into focus. The remote control is severly disappointing to say the least. It doesn't learn other components very well, it fails the search automatically, and even when the specific device model number is entered/selected from manual search, it doesn't control the device. eARC with a Denon Receiver was also disappointing. The TV does not control cable box, or DVD player through eARC as it should. We have to keep all remotes available for when those components get used. Overall review is a 3 star based on overall user experience. The picture is by far a 5 star, but the user interface is a 2.

GREAT Picture - Very EASY Setup!!

I have owned mostly the bargain level Flat Panel TV's since their inception. This is the first higher end screen I have purchased, could not be happier with the product. Easy set-up, great preset options in the settings. Sound quality is very good for a TV, but if you really want depth, invest in some type of inexpensive sound bar. I purchased the LG 7.1 to go with this TV and am very pleased.

Beautiful picture

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unbelievably clear picture, great sound even without my sound bar on. Unboxing and set up was hassle free a big bonus for me was the center base stand had recently refinished the stand and a 65 with legs would not have worked . Replaced a 47 LG that was at least 10 maybe 12 years old which is still going Strong just time for a upgrade Thanks Mark Adams
