This gun safe is compact and sturdy. The construction seems top notch. The inside lining is a nice touch. The only downside is the packaging that it comes in. The box is very flimsy and mine had been ripped open but the postal service taped it back and luckily it didn't receive and damage during this ordeal. Overall this is an excellent safe aside from the manufacturers packaging.

Unfortunately this safe is just too small, if you have any scopes, red dots, or anything that sticks up off your rifles they will not fit. I was hoping it would be big enough to fit ammo cans, but it's not deep enough, oh well. I ended up taking it back.

Bought two of these 5 rifle safes for two of my young adult sons as starters so that they can keep their firearms secure. I did not expect a lot for $99 but was pleasantly surprised. They seem fairly well built and were much better than gun "cabinets" in the same price range. They can be securely mounted to the floor or wall.

My husband has been looking at safes for years! I saw this in an email from SAMs, and thought I'd surprise him for Christmas! He happened to see the email receipt however, and played along. He told me he hadn't thought he was going to like it, but he was so surprised by the quality and size. It fit perfectly where he wanted it. Holds his guns perfectly, and is great quality! Doesn't hurt that it was a great price!

Small safe with a small foot print. Just the size i wanted . This is a entry level safe with deadbolts and is not a low end security cabinet in the same price range so you get a lot more. Sturdy , well built. had it bolted to both the floor and back wall as it can easily topple over . Heavy and needs a 2 man lift. Price with shipping at sams club was the best and was shipped out quickly.

Arrived in 3 days! I would categorize this as a strong cabinet or weak safe. It'll hold 3 rifles and a few handguns as well as some ammo. I bought it to keep my weapons out of the hands of my children which this safe will definitely do. I don't think it will deter a criminal with a crow bar for long though. If you're looking for a small safe that fit in your bedroom closet and keep your firearms from being messed around with then this is great option. Price is excellent. If you're looking for a safe that will keep your valuables out of the hands of a bad guy then look to pay more for a stronger safe.

Delivery was okay. Box was tore up and there were a few dings and dents. This is not Fort Knox. But it will keep the kiddies from getting to your weapons. It is small enough to fit in a closet or in the corner of your office or bedroom. Very top heavy so be careful with it until you secure it to the ground or wall.

Like other reviews the “packaging” was a bit beat up but the contents were “fine” (a small chip or 2 that you had to really look hard to find). Having read a review about the locking system, I too took the door panel off & added more “lubricating” substance. This is a hybrid unit with a small footprint; the keyed door locking mechanism is like a safe's multiple bolts instead of a gym locker's 2 bar system (a major point for me, & the only one of this type I could find). The small footprint is great for tight spaces, but a challenge for your long guns. It's big enough to fit a Mossberg 835, but unless the rest of your long guns also have a small footprint, you'll be hard pressed to fit 5 guns in it. If your rifles have scopes, it won't happen unless you have quick releases on them; even then it's a tough fit. Instead of all of them “leaning” in conventional form I've had to stagger them, & they are tight upon each other; thus there is no quick access to any of them. The door opens just short of 90* & the thicker door locking bolts system hampers access to that corner as well (it's at least the thickness of a gun). Even with all of the above, it fits my needs of “out of sight, out of mind” & locked away… Oh yeah, the shelf though small, with a creative touch, will hold a fair amount if items if need be, or a few that need to be there also. Bottom line is it works for me… Recommended with reservations...

The safe is narrow so you have to secure it tightly to the wall/floor or else it will tip over. The materials seem strong, although it's a bit short, my husband's rifle barely fit. The only thing I really don't like is the key lock, sometimes you need to jiggle it a bit to open or close, a combination lock would have been better (and safer), but overall it is a great value for a safe this size. If you're like me and want peace of mind knowing your guns are secure, out of the reach of kids and you don't want to spend too much, this is a great option for you.

I ordered this for my husband who has just taken an interest in guns and rifles. I wanted a safe place for them to be stored & my husband wanted a place to store them that wasn't too big. This safe offered us both. I didn't have any problems with the safe being damaged during shipment like some other people did. The only issue that I noticed was that because of the big locks on the door the safe leans to the front and must be anchored in the rear but that's not a bad thing. Plus Sam's price was the best by far!
