Fun but a little boring at times

I enjoy playing this, but sometimes I just get bored with it since it is quite slow with real time. Wish you could build more than one bridge or staircase a day. Also if you don’t buy a membership with Nintendo, you can’t experience a major part of the game for traveling to other peoples islands via dodo code or patterns from the kiosk at able sisters.

Excellent game for single players!

Animal Crossing has been one of the best games Nintendo puts out. Especially during this time where most people are quarantined, it gives you a sense of relaxation and happiness while you are home alone. It's a very happy and easy game to play without feeling rushed. However, it also allows you accomplish things for those that like setting goals! The single player version is great while also having really fun online connections with other players or friends where you can visit each other islands. So why did I give it only 4 out of 5 stars?Because the co-op play could be better. First things first, if you plan on playing with siblings or someone else in your household you HAVE to share the same island with everyone unless you purchase a separate switch. The island sharing isn't the biggest issue, but a few things makes it lackluster. You also share resources which means if someone plays before you for the day they can take everything so you are left with nothing. The first person to creates the island is the "mayor" and has more control over everything such as placements of new people, naming, and layout of the entire island. The above issue isn't the worst, but it's when you have multiple people play together at the same time that this game falls short. Whoever the "master" player is can do everything like normal, but the secondary player is limited and can't do a lot. They can't access their inventory or pick up new items and place it in their own inventory. Instead it goes to a treasure chest that you have to travel to get. Also, when the second player picks up items the animation is SUPER slow, which makes it very tedious. Note that you can change "master" player during play, but it's still annoying. Overall, FANTASTIC game for playing alone, but adding a second person may cause some struggles.

This review is about gameplay

New Horizons sucks. You cant much of anything after you get K.K. Slider. All you can do is terraform, collect things, and donate to your museum. DIY is a joke. Its so annoying when youre chopping down trees, and your axe breaks every five seconds. When you finish terraforming your island youre left wondering what to do. So you flatten the island and start from scratch. Rinse and repeat. Im disappointed in this new Animal Crossing game. I got so bored I went back to New Leaf. You can do a whole lot more in New Leaf. Plus the villagers are more animated and less boring. I dont care if I get not helpful votes. Its my honest opinion. If you were so excited for this game, only to be let down. I feel your pain. Yeah there will be updates. I dont wanna wait for updates. In New Leaf we got a finished game. I cant believe I paid 60 dollars for an unfinished game. Disappointing. If youre a long time AC fan skip this one. Otherwise youll be bored.

So cute and pretty distracting

In these times you need something to keep you entertained at home. All I could think about was getting my hands on this game. And I've been playing hours on end. Keeps you inside while having fun. Haven't played with anyone yet but you could also play with friend or family members online and on the same switch. Can't wait to unlock more.

This is a really fun game!

We had this game many years ago when my kids used to play Game Cube. When my son saw that this game just came out for Nintendo Switch, he couldn't wait to get it! He's been playing it every day since it arrived and said it's just as much fun as he remembers. This was a great purchase!

An Island Getaway

Animal Crossing New Horizons is a social simulation game, where you help to create an island of your very own. There's no sex, blood, or violence, so if your a concerned parent don't worry this is a game you can also enjoy. The game starts off slow for the first few weeks, you can't do much besides Helping set up the island and doing tasks for your Animal Villagers, but once you start playing for a while you start to unlock new features to improve your island. Online is stable and enjoyable but is lacking in the true "Multiplayer" experience, sure you can play with up to 8 friends but there's nothing much to do besides see other players' islands and buy or sell things in their stores. Hopefully, they will add updates to make playing multiplayer online more worthwhile, such as Island tours (Minigames for players). New Horizons is easy for newcomers to pick up and is refreshing for returning veterans of the Animal Crossing series, and gives the Animal Crossing community tools and abilities they all have been waiting for in past installments such as: Moving Houses and Stores, editing terrain and character customization. The only Amiibo support for the game is for the "Animal Crossing amiibo cards", which allows you to invite villagers to live on your island and as well receive unique items, there is a new addition to this game called Photopia, which allows you to use the amiibo card to summon villagers to take pictures with them. If you're looking for a game that is relaxing, cute, and fun I recommend this game.

Disappointing game

Only on island per switch. Everyone has to live on the same island and if the first person doesn’t unlock needed items the rest of the player cannot get them. Very disappointed with this game. My kids and I were looking forward to it for a long time.

great little game

my pre-order physical copy got dropped off today and this is the first time i've ever played an animal crossing game. boy, have i been missing out. it's very cute and soothing. strangely therapeutic with your little chores that you can do to help pay off your debt to a raccoon, like fish, pick fruit and pull weeds. you should definitley get this game!
