We purchased these radios because of the advertised "30-mile range". We were not expecting them to reach 30 miles since that is in optimal conditions; however, I did expect at least 10-20% of that claim (maybe 3-5 miles). These radios don't even work to the front of my neighborhood (3/4 mile). We contacted Midland because unfortunately, we had already tossed the boxes. Midland had us ship the radios and a copy of our receipt back to them. They then sent us new ones which had the exact same result - nothing past 3/4 mile. I believe my son's toy walkie-talkies had better coverage! $45 down the drain!!

These radios work fairly well with the exception of the call alert "feature" that produces the most annoying alert sounds that CAN NOT be disabled. Consequently, if the botton is accidental touched, all the radios produce the most irritating sounds sending my security scrambling. I would rate these radios higher if it weren't for this singularly aggravating oversight of not to being able to disarm the alert. I would not buy these again.

I bought these package due to its profile and as a fan of GXT1050. I had 6 total. 2 were dead after 10 yrs of normal uses. It works better than my Garmin Rino 650t. Mostly hiking and hunting. Some road trips in the mix. These new units suck and waste of money. It cost almost the same. Same hunting spot, these unit was hard to hear with all the static. I cannot even read what my partner say while the GXT1050 has no issue on their other trips. My Rhino 655t preform better than this. Wish I can return and exchange. I cant believe all the 4 & 5 stars. Probably city and road. Not recommended for hunting in your normal deer hunting ground.
