Excellent for charcoal

I bought 3 of these to organize dog food, bird seed, chicks food.This container does NOT hold 40lbs. Is NOT waterproof! I put 2 stars only because it's better organized inside then the bags were and they stack. Would love if it really held 40lbs and was waterproof for my small living space :)

There is no way 40 lbs of anything will fit in this unless it's lead. The lid doesn't attach, no matter what you do, if you try to tip and pour as shown in the picture, the lid would come right off and all product would be on the ground. Needless to say, this will not keep anything fresh and safe from moisture, air, bugs because of the lid not latching on. Seriously, do not waste your money & time like I did.

Before having this I used to store pellets in their bag. We all know that a little moisture can destroy the whole bag. However, these containers made it go away and also these are very sturdy and easy to carry around. Dispensing is also easy and prevents mess that I used to have when doing it from the bag.

Holds birdseed fine. If you open flip lid too far it's hard to close. Manufacturer/design flaw.

The packaging says this is capable of holding 40 lbs of wood chips. Well, chips must be much denser than dog food, because it only holds about 20 lbs from the 40 lb bag.

Sturdy and air tight. Perfectly fits 27.5 lb of my dogs prescription dog food (Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care Low Fat Chicken Flavor Dry Dog Food for reference) for those who want it for that reason

Despite the label saying very clearly "Ideal For Club Size Bags" with a red arrow pointing to dog food, this does not fit a Members Mark bag of dog food.

Sold right next to the club sized 40 lbs bird seed bags but doesn't fit the whole bag. Holds maybe 95% of the 40 lbs bird seed bags. Ideally should hold 105-110% of the big bird seed bags to allow filling before being completely out. Otherwise great storage option, feels like it will last, lid is tight, has several options to open the top to fit your need, handle is great with no worry of breaking.
