tasted like straight

It tasted so bad and I'm talking the whole entire family never liked it.the initial taste was horrible but the after taste was a pleasant mango flavor

Well, first and foremost it's SPRITE! 
second, while I don't see much of a difference between similiar flavors like sprite, 7-up, etc my Daughter does and I have actually tried to fool her and she knows.  She drinks sprite, only sprite and if sprite stopped being made she would stop drinking soda.
She might know chef Gordon Ramsey, I don't understand people with a good quality pallete, however, I know it is always fresh, and once again it is SPRITE!
Great base for adding flavor, ice cream, and so on.  I definitely like a lemon lime soday for my mixing needs.
I keep a beverage cooler full of O.J., SPRITE, vodka, etc :)
