Hands down, Michelin, the best tires at the best price

I bought four tires and had them installed on 11/23/2020. You may wonder, how can you rate them so high after just one day? Glad you asked, for the last 40 years or so, being in the transportation industry, driving passenger cars, luxury buses, tanker trucks (18 wheelers) etc… nothing compares to Michelin tires. They are the best. I have five passenger cars that have been driven 200k plus miles each. When I try other brands I'm always sorry. After you put 50k or 60k miles on a tire, that's when it's easy to feel the Michelin difference. They are just as smooth as when you first put them on. Of course you have people complaining about them being bumpy, however that is not the fault of the tire. Let me explain; when I installed new Michelins on the front wheel drive 2007 Chevy Impala, with 176k miles, it was very important to install new struts and shocks first. You may not know that it takes less than 5k miles to destroy a set of brand new tires (make them bumpy) installed on a vehicle with worn out struts and shocks. Along the same lines, make sure to do a wheel alignment. For best results, do the work in the following order: 1. New shocks 2. New Michelins 3. Wheel alignment Next, have you ever thought of why all these tire places want you to rotate the tires? Answer: to sell more tires. It is true (especially on front wheel drive cars) that, when rotated, the tires wear more even. What they will not tell you is this: yes, they wear more even, EVEN FASTER. I have driven Michelin Defenders mounted on the back of a front wheel drive car, for 92k miles, no rotating allowed. Yes, the front tires wore out in 52k miles due to a bad wheel alignment that had nothing to do with the tires. All I had to do was to buy two, not four, new tires for the front and fix the wheel alignment. At 52k miles, the tires on the back hardly looked used and they lasted another 40k miles. If I had them rotated, I would destroy all my tires evenly, even faster. If you are interested in an ultra-smooth ride and spending the least amount of money, buy Michelin tires and carefully read and follow the instructions above. david

Would definitely recommend Michelin tires.

I have also had Michelin X-ICE tires and based on their performance and ratings of Defender T + H, I wanted to try this tire. I have had them just over a month but I am happy with their performance (quiet, nice ride). I am expecting they will be the best of four types of all season tires I have used in the last 12 years.

Best winter tires ever!

I bought brand new winter tires in December. This was the first time I had ever purchased winter tires, but after ten years of driving, I understood it was time to lower the risks of accidents and thought I'd invest in new tires now so that I can save in the long run. Plus, I wasn't really saving when wearing out my all-season every year, so it made more sense to me (finally) to alternate between the two types of tires. The drive in the winter was completely different after installing my winter tires. I can feel the way the tires hugged the snow and gently stopped when I applied the breaks! This was especially important for me since I drive often between Toronto and Montreal where road conditions can be unpredictable in the winter time. I love my Michelin tires!

Great Tire on VW Alltrack

I don't understand the reviews stating that this tire is noisy. I am very happy with these tires - they are nice and quiet! If the tire is loud, that most likely is due to improper wheel alignment, or perhaps the tire was installed inside out (there is an inside and an outside face of this tire). VW installed Falken tires on the car from the factory which really were noisy and only lasted 25,000 - 30,000 miles. I went with a slightly wider size so that I could put Michelin tires on.

Unbelievable Tires

Just put on second set of defenders. Over 75,000 miles on first set. Could have gone to 80,000 but cut to one tire made it unrepairable. Most smooth riding and quiet tires I have ever owned. Even with this mileage still provided excellent performance in all conditions, even wet roads. Overall excellent tires in ever category.

Safety First

I bought my set of tires in March and the main reason I buy Michelin tires is because I have found that they are the safest tires to drive on front wheel and all wheel drive cars in rain when there is a lot of standing water on highway. Prevents hydroplaning. Have bought several sets of Michelin tires, never had any issues with them.

These tires are junk

I bought these 4 years ago because I really didn't have a choice in the matter. I was put at ease by the 80,000 mile and 6 year warranty. First thing I notice was a notable decrease in the range of my Leaf. I learned to deal with that. It never got better. The tire noise was on par with all the other tires I have had on the car and same for the ride. Fast forward today and I find out that after only 30,000 miles or only 37.5% of the expected mileage I am told that I need to replace my front 2 tires because they have no tread left. Only driving I do with this car is too and from work. Not even the interstate. Average of 35 mph. To be fair I never really expected 80,000 miles but, I did expect at least 60,000.

Very nice tires for my hybrid malibu.

I bought these little over a month ago, I drive all highway miles and already have put 10000 miles on them. At first I thought my car felt loose in them but that was because my old tires were so bad. These tires ride very nice, very quite even though my car sits 7 inches off the ground. Wet road handling is great and they are designed to last many many miles ahead. Very happy with my purchase.

Very Impressed by quiet drive, smoother control

My second hand Toyota Rav4 was roaring like muscle car and road noise was deafening. We finally put this tire set last week. Rav4 sounds like a car drive. Cannot believe it myself. Steering is lot smoother. Hopefully tires remain same throughout.

Let's see this 80,000 starting now!

I just purchase these tires and will keep an update ongoing. So far, don't hear the noise as other owners mentioned. Feels like they are absorbing unmanaged roads better than the stock Firestones on 2019 Hybrid Camrys, which only get 25k - 30k miles.
