Michelin X-Ice Snow - 225/65R16 100T Tire

Good in snow & ice but not so great in rain. My vehicle hydroplaned briefly on a sudden rain storm. Thankfully traction control kicked in saved the day.

We put these on our 2014 Passat TDI in Nov of 2015 (extra wheels and tires), used them for six MN winters and one summer now will replace them after over 115,000 miles of combined driving.

Best winter tire!!!

Bought these in winter 2021 for my wife's 2016 Highlander. Great tires, awesome in the rain and snow/slush. No hydroplaning, low road noise. Really glad we got these.

Awesome tires

Good grip on icy patches or hard-packed snow. Not for city driving! Tires seem to wear out faster just driving bare streets. A little pricy for what I needed.

Great tires for icy roads

I was very satisfied with these tires and had no issues with winter driving.  They offer a quiet and comfortable drive and I felt safe driving in winter conditions.

Had a problem with one or two tires losing air pressure. One tire experienced poor adhesion to the wheel - but that could be a problem with the installer - which fixed.

I bought these last year the end of October 2023 and the tires the tires are awesome they’re very quiet and very smooth ride great tire recommend it to anybody for snow

Snow tires

I have used the Michelin x Ice year round and finally bought a new set at 40,000 miles. This was the best wear of any snow tire.  Also performed great in the heavy wet snow here in Vermont.

Greatest Snow tire Ever

I purchased my mine last year november 2021 got it installed. It was way better than all season tire .  Hopefully they could create something more grippy in black ice. It’s okay but i hopefully they could invent something more

We have Michelin tires on both vehicles and wouldn't buy anything else. My husband raves about them and can't wait to change out the other brand that came on his new truck. Summer or winter, you can't beat Michelin

Tire Performance Report — Real-World Observations
Dry Road Performance:
The tires perform well on dry roads, maintaining stability and predictable handling. They demonstrate excellent grip and directional control in both cold and mild temperatures.
Wet Road Performance:
On wet surfaces, the tires are unsatisfactory. There is noticeable lateral slippage, frequent activation of the vehicle’s stability control system, and compromised grip, leading to reduced confidence during driving.
Snow and Winter Conditions:
In winter conditions, particularly on snow, the tires exhibit significant instability. During lane transitions, the rear axle tends to slide, causing repeated stability system interventions. The vehicle feels unsettled, and the tires fail to maintain a consistent trajectory. These tires are not recommended for use as winter tires in snowy conditions.
Cornering and Handling:
During turns, the tires provide poor lateral support. Both axles experience slippage, reducing the ability to maintain proper control. This effect is especially pronounced when moving from one rut to another.
Inclines and Sloped Roads:
On inclined or sloped surfaces at speeds as low as 20 km/h, the vehicle tends to drift off the road without corrective input, demonstrating a critical lack of directional stability.
Overall Safety Assessment:
Based on real-world driving experience, these tires are highly unsafe in wet, snowy, and sloped conditions. They may only be suitable for use in autumn and spring, on well-maintained roads. Extreme caution is recommended when operating under adverse conditions.These tires are not recommended. 
They are unsafe on the road, particularly in wet, snowy, or icy conditions. Seek alternative options for winter driving.

I’ve been using the Michelin X-Ice Snow tires for about three months now, and overall I’m very satisfied with their performance. With the amount of snow and ice we’ve had, the traction and performance have been great. Braking and cornering feel confident, and the vehicle remains stable even in harsher winter conditions.

Road noise is low for a winter tire, and the ride is smooth and predictable in cold temperatures. Fuel economy impact appears minimal, which is a plus for daily driving. So far, wear looks even across all tires.

Based on my experience to date, I would recommend the X-Ice Snow to other drivers looking for dependable winter performance.
