Doesn't heat evenly.

I read the reviews before purchasing and saw some people complain about uneven heating. They are 100% correct. The thermostat doesn't reach to the other side of the griddle and the unit it not capable of maintaining the temp on half of the cook surface. I tried cooking pancakes on this and while the browning was very nice and even the pancakes on the left side took twice the time than the pancakes on the right (closest to the thermostat). Even with the dial all the way up to 5 this didn't get very hot. I was hoping to grill/char vegetables on this griddle but it struggled to brown pancakes. To be fair this would still be ok if you just wanted to cook breakfast on it. I wouldn't recommend it for searing meat or charring vegetables. It just didn't live up to what my expectations were. Needless to say I'm returning it. I will have to keep searching for a different one.
