Primacy LTX does not appear to be a good tire

Just bought a 2024 Santa Cruz (small pick-up) with these on it. First day, I barely scraped a sidewalk and the sidewall tore right through. I have never had that happen with any car or truck I ever owned or drove in my life. Then I happen to see others have the same issue with lack of durability! I need this resolved by Michelin.

Vibration issue on sanja roadways, recommend an OEM field road test.

From an engineering perspective, it would appear that the tire design was not considered when running on sanjas, (drainage cuts). The tread pattern runs parallel to these cuts and as it skips, from cut to solid, the friction fluctuates causing significant vibration in the perpendicular direction. This effect is further magnified when on ice and wet sanja roadways. It feels like the vehicle is hydroplaning. On non-sanja roadways, the tires perform as expected.

Poor Tread Life

I purchased a brand new off the trailer 2022 Kia Telluride EX in March 2022, which had these tires installed OEM. The tires rode just fine, but I only made it to 30K miles before the treads have worn down requiring replacement. I am not looking forward to replacing these so soon and may be looking for another brand.

Too Soft for off-pavement

Came on my 2022 Nissan Frontier. I Took it off highway on a graveled county road for the first time with less than 2400 miles on them. A rock punched up right through the top of the tread and ruined the tire. I spend a lot of miles off pavement. I feel these tires are cheap (dealer provided) and too soft for me to trust off pavement. I put on my spare ( a smaller 16" rimmed tire of different manufacturer than Michelin) and crippled back to nearest tire store. They sold me a Michelin Defender LTX M/S to replace the ruined Primacy LTX, I'm hoping the dealer will now step up and at least put 3 defender LTX on my Frontier and replace the under sized spare with the 4th defender and a new 17" rim

55k and still plenty of performance left!

I bought my 2020 Chevy crew cab new in Oct 2019 and the OEM tires were the Primacy LTX. I have lived in Houston, Philadelphia, and now North Carolina. I have 55k miles on these tires and no complaints. I have moved myself several times and I do a lot of DYI which both have required a lot of towing of large trailers. With 45k miles on these tires they still saved our life one day and met the ultimate challenge. While cruising the interstate down a large grade towing a fully loaded 12’ trailer an18 wheeler suddenly cut us off in the passing lane and hit the breaks. I moved to the right lane sped up to avoid traffic behind me now near the bottom of the grade a when another 18 wheeler began to pull slowly off the shoulder into our lane. I stood on the breaks because trucks were on my left and vehicles behind me moved to the shoulder cutting off all options to avoid a violent and possibly fatal collision. The tires performed admirably and allowed me to control our skid and they bit the pavement hard enough to stop us short of that truck. I have nothing but praise for these tires and with winter coming soon I am looking for another set to replace them.

Poor handling and performance

Obtained these tires from the local Ford/Chrysler/jeep dealership. Severe balancing problems. Hard shaking from two of the tires at 65 mph or higher. Had two alignments and tires rebalanced twice. No improvement. Stay away from these tires! Dealership insists they are recommended as a Michelin replacement to original tires that came with the vehicle (Premier LTX, which are no longer made apparently), but these Primacy LTX are a very inconsistent tire.

Best tire for short trips

First off, this tire has a bad reputation. I think the reason people don’t like it, is they’re using it for the wrong purpose. The Primacy is not for off road use. It will perform well for long trips, but its life won’t last like the defenders. This is a fuel efficient tire-low rolling resistance. It is best suited for stop/start city driving, and/or highway driving if you are going to drive less than 55,000 miles in 5-7 years. 7 years is about as long as you want to keep any tire on the road; thanks to the sun and oxygen in the air.

Not a good tire for a truck that see gravel roads

These tires came as standard on my 2022 Nissan Frontier, I got a puncture in one in less than 3000km's of driving. The tire was ruined. I was not offroading, i was driving on a regular gravel road. If you stick to paved surfaces exclusively they may be ok.

Surprised & Disappointed!

These Primacy LTX tires came on our 2021 Kia Telluride that we bought new. I recently noticed a puncture in the sidewall on one tire. It almost looks like the rubber split. It looks pretty deep but the tire is still holding air. This is my wife's car and she drives on the interstate a lot; Needless to say I'm concerned that this tire could burst at any moment. My wife says she hasn't hit anything that could cause this damage. Also, there isn't any damage to the wheel. After reading a lot of other reviews I'm compelled to think that this is a faulty tire design or quality escape from Michelin. Since this is a safety issue I have to replace this tire and given that our Kia is AWD, it looks like I'll be replacing all 4 tires that don't even have 30k miles on them. I had previously held Michelin in high regard but have lost confidence in them after this.

Echo 5 Tango, we certainly understand your concern. We would recommend having the tire inspected by an authorized Michelin retailer in your area, and have the dealer call us while you are there.

Leak like a sieve at 12,000 miles

2 of the 4 leak like a sieve at 12,000 miles. Came on new 2024 Nissan Frontier. Multiple tiny leaks in 2 of the tires without punctures. Can’t believe Michelin would put their name on them. Can believe Nissan would choose to put them on their vehicles. Only 42,000 miles short of guaranteed mileage. Worthless.
