GP6500/7680

I bought this portable generator because every time after a power outage I said I was going to get one and never did once the power came back on. Finally after the last outage I said that's it I'm getting a generator… I reviewed a lot of different types and brands as I usually do when making any purchase. I did a lot of research on properly breaking in a portable generator To assure a long life for the generator. I do run it every 30 days for about 15 minutes or so to exercise it. It starts first or second pull every time. Although I have not used it in an outage situation as of yet I am sure that it will perform fantastic and flawlessly. I am a tradesman and I can tell just by looking at and touching the generator it is the highest quality. I love my new toy…

I was very pleased with this product

The unpacking and assembly were well described and easy to complete with minimal mechanical skills. The engine started right up and power was immediately produced. I let the unit run for a few minutes and then checked the oil level and examined the unit for any leaks or other obvious issues but none were found. I would recommend this product to anyone in need of a large portable generator for emergency or other short term uses.

Good bang for your Buck

Just recently purchased a home in Florida, our first hurricane season and Irma made us realize that a generator is a life saver in Florida. We have only owned it for 2 months and it was a big purchase but well worth it. We only used it for 2 days it is on the loud side but it does the job we expected it to. Overall a good purchase so far... time will tell.

this unit has everything we are looking for.

I have had Generacs in two other locations which served us well when we experienced power losses. Because we were very rural they were literally life lines and each of them sold with the sale of the respective properties. Since we are now in FL and subject to unexpected weather conditions, the extreme heat and humidity are conditions we wish to be ready for. Obviously buying another Generac gives testimony to our satisfaction with the product.

Easy to maneuver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great. Took it on our latest camping trip it ran our site and our neighbors site with power to boot. Quieter than I expected! I liked the idea of never flat wheels but they seemed a little bent. Handy fold up handle that was well balanced and easy to maneuver was a bonus.

Sandy and Generac - a good combination

Just made it through hurricane Sandy's blackout. This was the generators first extended test. Passed with flying colors. This is the 6500 Watt model, manual start. Started on the second pull (usually does). I Powered, using the 30amp outlet - 1 Refrig, 2 gas forced hot air heating units, 1 gas powered water heater, 2 bathrooms, kitchen lights, dinette lights family room outlets (charged a lot of cell phones), and used applicances through those outlets (toaster over, coffee maker, washer/dryer), and of course a radio, hall lights and a bedroom. Using the 20amp four outlets, powered three more refrig, including a couple from my neighbors house, and some additional lights. The generator took forever to use the gasoline in the tank. No lights flickered, appliances functioned proprely. At times I forgot I was on generator. Thank You Generac.

Got it for hurricanes... doesn't work

Bought generator 2 years ago which worked on startup. I drained the gas tank and confidently awaited a time for its use. I am in NC with Hurricane Florence and brought out the generator. After filling the gas tank, checking the oil, charging the battery..... nothing. Will not crank by hand or battery. What a disappointment when it is needed most.

Exceptional Product

The generator arrived in perfect condition. The packaging was outstanding. It took about 20 minutes from the time it was it was uncrated until it was running. It was connected to my 2100 square foot home and it ran the whole house. That included a 5 ton AC, electric clothes dryer, lights, ceiling fans, chest freezer, refrigerator, water well pump, TV's and yes even the microwave...................the whole house. It never "bogged" down or missed a beat. Noise is moderate....but with doors and windows closed with the TV on I never noticed it. It came with an extra air filter, fuel filter, some Sta-Bil fuel treatment and 2 spark plugs which I thought was a very nice touch. It is heavy but well balanced and easy to move about. Great product for a reasonable price.

Lot Of Bang For Your Buck!

I purchased one of the older versions of the GP15000 and have used it in many different applications. Ranging from running out door sound, stage and lighting for various different music festivals I have help run to running an entire 3 BR 2 Bath house with a 3 ton AC unit. The engine used on these generators are easy to maintain and are extremely durable. With a huge 16 US Gal. fuel tank, I have had my generator run as long as 8 to 10 hours, depending on the load within my household, and last me an entire night running my stage setup I have. Love the fact that there is a lift point on the generator to be able to use lifting equipment like an engine hoist to pickup my generator and place in the back of my van to transport. (Generator weighs in over 350 pounds) I also love the feature of having the large inflatable wheels to move such generator around without having to exhaust a lot of energy. Plenty of standard household 5-20R duplex wall outlets (One of the 5-20R duplex outlet is GFI ) to having the mammoth L-14 50A 120/240V AC outlet for large loads. If you are ever in the market for a high power output generator and need it to be portable, The GP15000 and the GP-17500 is the go to power plant.

Excellent!

Ran this generator for almost 5 months everyday after Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Was the only thing that kept the family from going insane. Absolutely trustworthy and it never skipped a beat. The electric switch stopped working but with the manual start we never went a day without power. Heard a lot of people complain about their generators but we never had a problem.
