Easy set up and operations

I purchased this generator for my parent who needs it as a home back up power supply when she loses power because of storms and I'm not able to stay with her. I own a storm boss generator, it always starts and works great. So I wanted to stay with generac. This unit has electric start which makes it easy her. It runs great.

Need to include a 240v-t0-120v adapter

Assembly was easy, directions were clear and parts well identified. The unit started easily on first pull. We had a problem with a "smart" refrigerator tripping the 20 amp breaker, so we rigged up an a-dapter to provide 120v from the 30 amp 240v receptacle. The home-made a-dapter worked, but Generac should include a proper 240v/120v adapter for the 30 amp receptacle so that the capabilities of the unit can be fully utilized from the get-go with scrambling for a home-made remedy.

2nd Generac portable.

I purchased my 1st Generac Portable, a 5 KW, 25 years ago. We lived in a suburb with frequent power outages. Since then we have relocated 4 times and it never failed me. The only problems were it was a "pull start" (I am 75 years old) and my power requirements have increased. I purchased another Generac. I wanted to stay with a winner. The 7500E powers my entire home, (and the air conditioning), and it starts at the flick of a switch. I gave the 5KW to a young fellow, a new home owner recently married. We had a power failure 2 weeks ago. Now instead of one happy Generac owner, there are two.

Ran twice.

Ran it 15 minutes when i bought it. It ran very well. Didn't have to use it this winter, thankfully. Ran it 3 days ago and the float was stuck in the carb, leaking fuel everywhere. I had put Stabil in it for storage. A little disappointed, but they fixed it under warranty. Overall runs the whole house with ease, so thumbs up. Just had a minor problem. Hope that is all that goes wrong with it.

GP7500e

Live in rural area and lose power at least once a year. Wanted portable generator that would power well, fridge/freezer and heat. Generac 7500e fit the bill after reviewing other generators. easy to use and was able to combine it with a manual transfer switch for the house.

Good Value

Bought this machine to use during a power failure. Found a great price on line, with free liftgate shipping. Started up first time right out of the box, so that was encouraging. Startup procedure is simple. Has sufficient capacity to run my well pump, fridge, microwave, lights, TV's and computer. Have only run it to check out the new transfer switch and panel, but it ran smoothly throughout. Kinda noisy, but won't be running it at night anyway. Lacks a power meter and the fuel level gauge is pretty cheesy.

very good value

After many hours of research I decided upon the Generac GP 6500. It will generate all the Power my family and I will need in case of an emergency. Hope to never really have to use it but it gives us a sense of security in case we do. Put the oil and gas in it and it started right up. Good investment.

Tbis product is expected to meet our needs during a storm caused power outage!

The.instructions for assembly were easy to follow. The instructions were straight forward with all parts included. The generator started on the second pull and worked flawlessly. I feel confident the generator will help keep my family comfortable during an extended power outrage. Having the generator and being able to connect it to the house is very convenient.

It was a life saver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This came at just the time I needed it, we had a bad storm and lost power for a while, and i got a chance to us it! I'm impressed, it did it's job!! It was so easy to put together, the instructions were clear cut, and I'm overall impressed with it. If I had any qualms, i would say it's a little pricy for me, but I'm so very thankful I now have one. It's a good product and I would recommend.

DeWalt 6500 Series

My review is based on the DeWalt 6500 made by Generac. DeWalt a name that is associated with quality products. No matter if it's tools or a generator. DeWalt is a name that is synonymous in the industry for quality. This generator is made by Generac for Dewalt which also is a name that is synonymous in the power generator industry for reliable generators. The bigger the watts on the generator usage, the longer run time at 50% power before refueling. In other words if you run the generator at half load (in this particular case 2 divided into 6500 watts = 3250 watts) you will decrease the fuel consumption by about half. The generator will not have to run at maximum speed to produce a continuous 6500 watts. That is why if you plan on purchasing a generator, always purchase a bigger generator in terms of wattage than you will need. This will decrease your fuel consumption by the generator and you'll be able to run for an extended period of time on the same amount of fuel. Living in South Louisiana along the Gulf Coast, we experience hurricanes often. This generator will allow me the peace of mind knowing that the size of this DeWalt generator will allow me to know that this generator will meet my most critical needs after my power has been knocked out and knowing that the DeWalt name is behind this generator. This generator will allow me to keep my refrigerator and freezer (packed with seafood) continually working and keeping my family comfortable in the hot and humid Louisiana weather. One thing to remember, when using a generator, plug-in one appliance at a time to keep the generator from spiking. All appliances have a capacitor which kicks in when first starting the appliance. This draws quite a bit of wattage from the generator. The capacitor is used to to start the unit and once the unit is up and running the capacitor will disengage and the unit will be running normal. Once this is accomplished the next appliance can be plugged into the generator outlet. Repeat the procedure for the next appliance. This procedure will keep the generator from spiking and shutting down. This DeWalt generator is packed with many features that makes it practical and versitly for a portable generator. DeWalt uses two words to define their array of products "GUARANTEED TOUGH" and that is the truth!
