Should do what it is designed to do

It was a gift from a son-in-law. I have started it but have not used it as we are still trying to get our house wired for it. One complaint was that the manual with it was not very good so I had to down load one from the web site. Also it arrived without the axle but when I called Generac they shipped one right away.Since it is so heavy I had to get help in installing the wheels and axle. The Generac people(Power Solutions ) in Jasper, GA did send a man over and he did the work for me and made all the proper assembly needed and was very friendly. This generator is to be used in case of power outages that we have often..

Great Generator!!

I purchased this generator after doing some research and felt this to be the best generator by far for quality, features and price. I had used a John Deere that I paid almost 1500.00 dollars for after we were hit by a severe ice storm in 2003. The John Deere was junk compared to this Generac. The John Deere will not stay running if left in the rain or if snow blows in on it. Also the quality of the John Deere was cheap!! It had a plastic gas tank, no electric start or anything to keep it off the ground. The Generac comes with the electric start (which is great), wheel kit, a solid frame and a handle to move the generator around with. Shop around and compare you will end up buying the Generac!!

It does what it's supposed to

After 35 years at the same address and typically dealing with 1 or 2 mostly short outages per year, we experienced an 8 hour outage and a 5 hour outage within 2 months. My wife said we need a generator! We looked at whole house backup but that seemed like overkill and very expensive. After lots of online research we settled on a Generac in the 6500-8000 watt range. Because we have a well, we needed 230v output. The price difference between 6500 and 8000 was so small, we opted for the GP8000e. The installer put a lockout on our electrical panel so we can switch between generator power or electric service but the generator cannot backfeed the incoming electric. Yesterday we experienced a 5 hour outage. After 30 minutes, I rolled the generator out of the garage and onto my patio. It fired up with electric start even though I had not charged the battery since the initial startup 4 months ago. I hooked up the 30amp cable to the receptacle on the house, switched the lockout on the service entrance to generator power and we had power. In addition to the well pump, furnace fan, and fridge, we ran the microwave, an electric cooktop (not at the same time), and all the lights we wanted. My only complaint, though not unexpected, was the volume. It is loud! My phone sound meter app registered 90db at about 10' away. It was about 8' from our family room and even with the windows closed, it was too loud to watch TV comfortably so we retreated to the basement. It's also quite heavy but I had no real trouble wheeling it around the house from the garage to the patio. Overall, I'm very pleased with it and my wife was happy that we had water and a cold refrigerator during our 5 hour outage.

Like it BUT ...

First unit had air cleaner crushed. Returned for replacement during emergency outage. Mixed fuel stabilizer in fuel each refueling. Present unit ran flawlessly for 30 hours while performing service on the main breaker box. Shut it down & stored for 6 months. Pulled it out to start it & keep it loose; wore myself out pulling that rope! Found the exhaust valve was remaining open. Fixed that and it ran fine. Want to convert it to electric start but Generac doesn't make a kit for it!! Yeah, it voids the warranty but it's already out! Getting too old to be yanking ropes!

What a beast!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The GP6500 Pull Start, COS W/Cord 49 St is a beast, simply stated. This thing is powerful and it shows in its size. It hooks up so easily and really is ready to use as soon as you get out of the monsterous box! It is easy to read instructions too. You can power multiple things around your house easily and for hours. I live in a hurricane path near the Gulf and this will come in handy for years to come. It does weigh 200+ lbs so have someone with muscles to help you out. Once its out of the box its very easy to get around using its wheels. I am in love with this machine!

Very Satisfied

After returning the original purchase due to a defect, the replacement generator went together quickly and easily. I was concerned about previous reviews that talked about difficulty putting oil in and putting the wheels on, but I had no problems. You do need a funnel to add oil, but a funnel with a long neck worked fine. After the unit was assembled, I put some fuel in it and it fired right up. I also put a small load on it to ensure it was actually working. All in all, I'm happy and confident this unit will perform as expected when it is needed.

I was very pleased with this product

The unpacking and assembly were well described and easy to complete with minimal mechanical skills. The engine started right up and power was immediately produced. I let the unit run for a few minutes and then checked the oil level and examined the unit for any leaks or other obvious issues but none were found. I would recommend this product to anyone in need of a large portable generator for emergency or other short term uses.

Should do the job easily

I bought it for emergency power for when our tree lined street takes out the power lines. I've only run it for a few minutes so far, to test the breaker box connection. It ran the well pump, furnace, and a few lights without issue. There will be enough power in reserve to keep us comfortable if we have another snow disaster this winter.

Hurricane Auxiliary Power

I bought a GP8000e 3 years ago but didn't need to use it until now. I turned this generator on Wednesday night after hurricane Ian had passed. It's been running for 5 days straight. I do change the oil every day, not sure if that's necessary. It's been running the lights, two air conditioners, tv, refrigerator… I've even used the washing machine.

Generac 7500e

Overall I really like this unit. The electric start is great because I have my eldery parents & my sister living w/me and this makes this unit simple to operate. As for the generator runs wonderful & is about as loud as any other portable unit. My 2 complaints would be that the wheels are really cheap & the fit & finish on my unit were not the best in my opion . Also I have a generac cord and a 30 amp generac receptacle gen box as well which I love. Overall 4.8 stars!
