Just what I needed at the time

The power went out and they kept extending the estimate on when it would be back on, so so I needed something in a pinch. 90 degrees plus outside and not on city water so I needed 220 volts for the water pump and still enough for the fridge and freezer. As it turned out I was even able to run my air conditioning! it would kick out a little if the pump kicked in though and wait 5 minutes to turn back on...safety feature for the AC compressor. BUT IT WORKED OUT WELL! probably the only house in the area able to have AC. It starts easy and was easy to set up but it is a noisier than I expected it would be.

A Beautiful Beast!!

Our generator was purchased in the event of a power outage. We have had our house wired to accept gen power by an electrician. Our electrician was SO impressed with our generator. He even mentioned it was robust enough to power our whole 2400 sq.ft. house, except for the AC. During our testing, the machine started up within 1 second, made less noise than we would have thought for its size and power. The controls are easy to use and understand (I am a novice at this) and maneuvering this beast was actually pleasant. Sturdy contruction and high quality gives you an excellent feeling that this can handle high demands. During our testing, it performed perfectly and did power the entire house with ease (45% total load with EVERY light, fan, appliance turned on). If I could give it 6stars, I would.

Outstanding.

I have had this generator since February 2017, the peace of mind is priceless. I did look tirelessly and this model was the best value. It easily handles our home ( 4200 sq ft) multiple refrigerators and 2 central air units. I did have the electrician wire the house for takeover, much easier given the winters in New England. Easy install, unpack and setup, by myself. Best of all made in the USA, great network of service centers here as well. If you, like me are looking for an alternative portable power source, this is it

Awesome Generator

Great quality product as expected from Generac! Runs everything I need during a power outage with ease! After buying portable Generac I'm even more convinced to purchase a standby down the road! Then I'll be able to camp and tailgate exclusively with my GP6500!

Initial impression of 7500E

After a tornado last November left us without power for 3-1/2 days, I decided to take the leap and install a transfer switch and purchase a portable emergency generator. I researched and looked at a lot of brands but always found myself coming back to Generac. I decided on the 7500 E and purchased it at a local big box store and took it home. Packaging was excellent and everything was in pristine condition out of the box. I inspected the frame and it is a very rugged design which I believe will give many good years of trouble free service. 30 minutes later I had it assembled, oil & gas added, and it started immediately when I pushed the start button. It is smooth running, quieter than I though it would be for its size, and easier to move around than I thought it would be for its weight, thanks to the sturdy fold down handle and wheels. I ran some garage loads on it to break it in and the voltage held steady at 119.8 volts regardless of load. I haven't used it in an emergency situation yet, but it performed exactly as advertised right out of the box. I am 100 % glad I bought this generator and I am very satisfied with my choice so far. I would recommend this generator to anyone who is looking for ease of assembly and more than enough power to keep them comfortable in any outage. Hopefully we won't have another tornado any time soon, but with this machine I am confident that we will be ready for whatever nature throws at us.

Good Quality Generator

I took delivery in the early part of December 2013. If I did not own a tractor with a loader, there would have been problems as the trucking company shows up in a tractor-trailer full size rig. I had no trouble assembling the unit. However the oil that was shipped with the generator had contaminants at the bottom of the bottle. The debris never made it into the crank case as I was pouring and checking the level and caught it. I had occasion to use the unit this past week as our electric was out for 5 hours and the outside temperature was 11 above. We ran the whole house on the unit but did not use the electric stove. When the 220v well pump would kick on the lights would flicker slightly; the generator never appeared to be working hard. I am well satisfied with the performance and quality of this unit.

Looks solid

This is for the GP7500E. I can't do an operation review because I just finished setting the unit up and have not used it yet. It was purchased as a backup electrical source for our home. Setup was easier than reviews led me to believe, specifically putting oil in it. You do need a funnel to add oil, and I did use a funnel and hose that I already have, but a funnel with a long neck would work fine. The first unit I brought home was replaced by Tractor Supply after purchase because the spark plug boot was broken. TS was going to replace the unit with another unit in stock but the other unit also had a broken boot. They replaced it with a unit from a different store. Might be a coincidence. I opened the box and checked the boot before I brought this one home. I'm sixty years young but didn't have a problem putting it together, although it is heavy. The only piece missing was one of the little bolts that hold the battery terminals on. The unit looks good, though. I have intentions to fire that puppy up and put a load on it to make sure it puts power out. I don't know if I'll be allowed to do a second review after using it, but that's the plan.

Nice Generator

This is a great generator as long as you keep the battery fully charged. 1. Keep the generator battery charged. It will not pull start with a dead battery. Use the battery charged that comes with the generator. 2. If you can't keep the generator on the charger install a battery disconnect between the battery cable and the battery. My battery would drain when sitting for 2 weeks or more. The switch solves the problem. I really like the generator..

Safety!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Put oil and gas in this baby a she fired right up, didn't skip a beat!! I am so happy and relieved to have this "security blanket" just in case of a snowstorm, as our main heat source comes from a pellet stove. I feel safe now that I have this reliable backup!!

Home Back Up GP17500

Purchased for hurricane back up power for my all-electric home. Works very well but just falls short of being able to operate all the house loads. Having said that it still covers the important items (a/c, lights, tv, fans, etc.) but adding the water heater and stove pushes the 50-amp capacity. Neighbors are looking at upgrading their units.
