Very good tires

Was almost in an accident and was able to avoid by stopping my older Toyota Highlander. I'm giving credit to these tires. All of the vehicles in front of us rammed into each other but we were able to stop on a dime! Great tires. Very pleased. Smooth ride.

Love'm

Best tires I've ever purchased! I put them on both of my Tacomas and I'm on my second set on my current daily driver. I get close to 100k miles on each set. Yes, I rotate them and run the appropriate tire pressure as scheduled. The handling of my truck in adverse weather is so much better with my Michelin Defender LTX M/S...even in hurricane rain they grip the road while other vehicles are hydroplaning

Could be Michelin's best tire

Could be Michelin's best tire. OEM on parents '03 GMC Envoy. I normally am not a fan of OEM tires, but these were exceptional. When replacement time came, local tire shop (and Michelin experts) recommended that these tires were still the best option. Just replaced those, as my parents don't drive nearly as much in their advanced age and the tires were starting to show signs of dry rot, which I've read is normal with Michelin's high mileage tires as they just don't wear out! These newest ones are probably the best Michelin tires, and I speak from experience. Another vehicle was supplied OEM with Primacy Tours, which were trash, and I replaced with the Defender2 and while better, aren't the equal of the Defender LTX! I have another vehicle with Pilot Sport All Season 4s which might be slightly better than the Defender LTX, but I have to knock them a point as I can't get 20k miles on them. But they ARE a high performance tire, and phenomenal! The Defender LTX is incredibly quiet, smooth, and resists hydroplaning and tramlining. Haven't bee drven in the snow, but considering how excellent they are in the other 3 seasons, I'm confident they'd perform just fine in the snow. Highly recommend!

Best Passenger Vehicle Tire Out There

Hands down, these are the best tires on the market for passenger vehicles. I've had these tires on 3 different vehicles now. 2 pickups and an SUV. Excellent traction, very smooth ride, and great durability. Provides confidence when on snow, ice, water or other slippery surfaces. Until one of these fails me prematurely, I will never put a different tire on any of my vehicles.

This will be the third set of Defender LTX M/S that have been on my truck. The first set was on the truck when I bought it in 2013. That set had 83,000 miles on them. I then bought another set of the same tire hoping they would last as long as the first set. And they did even better with 90,000 miles on those. Now I have the third set on. I hope they do just as well. I check the tire pressure on a regular basis and rotate them every 10,000 miles. Both sets have worn very evenly and ride very nice. I live in MN and they do well in all four seasons. I drive a Honda Ridgeline and it handles very well with these tires.

Set 4 and only getting better

Excellent tire. Great for holding down cost of long distance commuting. Been driving on Michelin tires for 40 years and they just keep getting better. I don't even look at other brands when replacing and won't buy a new car unless it comes with Michelins. Just took off my last LTX's at 73,000 miles and probably could have gone to 80K before getting to the wear bar but, the rainy season is just around the corner and I really wanted the tread depth back. Used to live up North and these LTX's were great in the snow too. Truly the best all-round tire. And, they're round so, none of the wump wump wump you here with some other brands.

Great tire for small SUV/Crossover

I've been waiting for some ice and snow to test these little babies! We got it now, here in Montana!! At first, I was concerned that these tires would be too noisy or reduce fuel economy too much on my 2013 RAV 4. Totally unfounded!! These seem to be great tires here in snow country! The rubber compound seems soft and tacky in the cold temps, and seems to grip the roadways better. Braking in snowy/icy conditions feels strong and I just plowed thru 9" fresh snow confidently They give me a soft, comfortable ride on the hiway. I am totally pleased with my purchase so far (about 1500 miles on them) and plan to put a set on our Honda CRV.

Good tires

I really like these tires, they are Michelin quality. However, I am giving them 4 stars because my gas mileage was reduced 1-2 miles per gallon, as compared to my previous set of Michelins. The rolling resistance may be greater and they appear to be more of an all purpose/all terrain hybrid.

Less then perfect

This is my second set and by far these are less then great, with only 36,000 miles on them they slip (hydroplane) when there is a little water on the road and they slip at start up even on dry roads. I have them rotated every 5,000 miles, I check and correct tire pressure every 30 days, I am wondering if the rubber is now a harder substance, hopefully they make it to 70,000 miles

Thanks for the honest feedback. Sounds like you’ve been taking great care of your tires, so we totally get your frustration. The Defender LTX M/S is designed for long-lasting traction, but performance can vary depending on wear, road conditions, and vehicle setup. We’d recommend having a local dealer take a look to see what’s going on. And if you want to chat with us directly, feel free to call 866-866-6605 (Mon–Fri 8 AM–7 PM EST, Sat 9 AM–1 PM EST) —we’re happy to help!

Vibration is an issue

I always buy Michelin. I installed a set of these tires on my F-150 December 2016. When it's very cold these tires literally shake my truck as if they are solid, I am talking temperatures in the teens. They ride like that for miles. As the temperatures warm up, they still shake quite a bit until they are driven maybe 20 miles at expressway speeds. At temperatures over 65 degrees, these tires ride smooth as glass, so I know that my vehicle does not have any mechanical issues. I can't stand the vibrations these tires cause, very annoying ride! I more than likely will have to dispose of a brand new set of tire and find something else.
