I ready think they're very comfortable that it hard to believe you're wearing a panty liner and yes they protect against the leak.

Nice thin pad

If you have a latex allergy...beware as there is something in the adhesive that caused a serious allergic reaction. I am not sure if the adhesive changed or what but I used to be able to wear these, not any more. And...of course, I purchased a case of them without realizing the adhesive gave me an allergic reaction with hives, itch, etc.
