Replaced original equipment tirres on our Subaru Outback. These tires were recommended by our service people and I think they gave us good information. They seem to ride smoother and quieter than original tires and if the expected treadwear is as we were informed we will be extremely happy with them. I feel that they are a great tire for the price.

- 3 out of 5 stars review2/17/2026Not sure where the outstanding ride quality reviews come from. Placed these on a Kia Telluride and the ride quality is noticeably rougher. The vehicle always appears to sway back and forth and you feel every bump.

Ride comfort can be influenced by factors such as i... - 4 out of 5 stars review9/22/2025Great tire, absolutely 0 smooth-road noise, but I notice a reactionary thump over a certain type of road ripple, most likely due to the fact that the suspension was tuned for the Yokohamas that my van was designed with. I chose Michelin for their legendary safety record and I also lucked in to a tire with a long tread life. The original Avid tires had worn to a concerning tread depth at only 56 000 KM.
Excellent smooth running, great steering and handling but susceptible to pavement ripple noise.

Have used them in summer with heavy rains also now during winter with heavy snow and freezing rain. They have stopped without any noise and even on recent bad weather. Thank you Michelin.

Could you possibly make it any more difficult to attach the receipt image? Really? Why not give an instant rebate at time of purchase? Only one reason I can think of, Michelin is hoping for leakage. Not a great customer experience.

The original Defender tires still had another 10,000 miles of summer driving left on them but living here in Montana I need that deep tread depth for the winter. driving conditions here. I'm sure that these Defender 2 will be as good as or better than the original Defender tires.

These are probably great for high milage fleet vehicles or rentals but not for any vehicle one might drive spiritedly. Do not drive these hard in the rain, you may die. I replaced a set of Yokohama's with these and to be honest, I got better performance from the worn out Yok's. Now I know these are not a performance grade tire by any means, but I did expect a little better from Michelin.

I live in New England with warm hot summers, rainy spring and icy and snowy winters. These tires are GREAT! And with an 80,000 warranty and Michelin standing behind it - I love the tires.
The only tire I will buy!

I expected a smooth ride but you can feel every bump in the road throughout the car. At first thought the tires were not balanced, but went back to the shop and they checked to confirm the tires were balanced. I would by again for my wife’s car but not my VW.

When is wet or damp the traction is horrible, almost had an accident because tires kept spinning luckily nothing happened but I thought this tires were supposed to be good in wet conditions. Went to the place I bought them and they took them back but had to pay the difference for a different set of tires, NOT Michelin! So disappointed!

I have been buying this brand for my 2 cars and every time the performance is great. My gas consumption has been good compared to when I was using the heavier Bridgestone brand. Tip: buy when they have a promo on to save even more (that is if the need is not urgent).

I replaced them with the Defender 2 and not real impressed. They handle well decent on wet roads(haven't driven in snow yet) but I think to me they are noisy compared to the pilot sport tire. Had them for 7000 miles now, would I buy again not sure at this point. I really liked the pilot sport better all around.

Handling was smooth and easy compared to my old tires. They look great on my car and I'm looking forward to years of comfortable driving on them !!!!

Best tire in snow and they give you confidence because they hold the road so well. The only tire I will put on my cars.

Having tried the best of many other brands, I must now affirm that nothing--NOTHING-- rides, wears, handles or performs like Michelin! They are more quiet, more sure-footed, particularly in compromising conditions, better wearings, and provide a better ride than any tire I have ever used. FIVE STARS for Michelin...all the way!

This new design is not as quiet as the lower design. When cold they vibrate alot. I'm not very impressed with them. I think Michelin needs the rethink the design for road noise.

I've only put about 10,000 km on them but I have noticed that my gas milage is better. I have a RAV4 Hybrid which in summer I was getting 5.4 l/100 km for the past 3 years. I am now getting 5.2 to 5.3 l/km. Not a big saving but I will take it. In old terms that is an improvement of 1 to 2 miles per Imperial gallon. I also feel safer with the new tires as Michelin is known for their high quality.

I am going to call the tire shop to let them know i cant handle this and what can we do. hopefully if they dont do something michelin will.

I been using Michelin's on my cars for over 35 years and will not put another brand tire of my cars. They have never failed and have given my excellent mileage wear, I usually have to change tires because they are to old and have become hard.
