My First Michelin Disappointment

I have a 2012 Camry XLE that came with Michelin MXV4. I replaced the MXV4s with Premier A/S tires. The first thing I notice was road noise was much louder than the worn out MXV4s. The next thing I noticed was I could feel every imperfection in the road surface. At 750 miles I had the tires removed from the Camry and replaced with another premium brand. This was hard to do since I've been a Michelin fan since the 80s. Had the Premier A/S tires road as good and quiet as the worn out MXV4s I would have kept them on the car.

Very good tire!

I drive a 2011 Honda Fit Sport locally in Connecticut, and I put on a set of Michelin Premier A/S tires a little over a year ago. These are some outstanding tires! Excellent grip and cornering, and they improved my stopping distance as well. The single most important thing you can do to improve your car's performance is to put on a good set of tires. These Michelin tires are some of the best I've used in over 40 years of driving. Check out the most recent Consumer Report tire recommendations if you want further proof. Michelin deserves accolades for developing such a good tire!

Great Michelin Tire

Recently purchased the new Premier A/S tires for my car and love them. Day after they were installed, we had a big rain and tires responded well, especially braking. No road noise and great steering/handling. Haven't had them long, but seems to already be getting a little better gas mileage.

Good tire attributes but fast tread wear and lower MPG

I bought a full set of these tires in the summer of 2018 for my 2014 Subaru Forester. They have 32,500 miles on them. The good. These tires ride well, absorb road noise and shock, corner well, grip in wet and snow conditions, and look good. I have Michelin X Ice winter tires for my vehicle which I normally swap into from Dec-Feb, but I decided to skip this past winter to see how the Premier A/S tires do in the winter season. They worked out great in lighter snow and way better than the original OEM tires in all snow/ice conditions. The not so good. 1) Loss of fuel economy. I expected a drop in mileage since the OEM tires weren't the best and were primarily fair-weather tires, but I've lost an average of 1.6 MPG over the last 30,000 miles. That's a lot to me. 2) At 32,500 miles I seriously doubt I'll make the 60,000-mile mark as advertised. From the looks of it, I'll probably make 45,000 miles, maybe 50,000. I'm going to stop by the tire store I bought them from and have them give me a better estimate. However, they're wearing at a faster rate than anticipated.

GREAT - Everything I expected

Within the first 24 hours of having this tire on my Subaru Sport Limited I experienced dry pavement, wet pavement and snow/slush & ice. This tire is EXCELLENT and doing everything I expected. I purchased this tire primarily for Handling & Traction and in the above conditions it has given me a 5 star performance.

Not as advertized

Lot of highway driving. Not as good in snow as I expected. Definitely not a 60000 mile tire. Having to replace set after only 15000 miles. Sadly, I was informed that Michelin is aware of this being a common complaint and has done nothing to remedy it and still represents it as a 60000 mile tire. Have always bought Michelins but am replacing with BF Goodrich.

good performer with low milage

Driving Lexus ES 350 with Premier A/S w/ 27,000 highway miles in Colorado. The tread is 60% off, and it looks like, the tread will be gone at about 35,000 miles vs 60,000 indicated by Michelin. Dry , wet , noise and cornering performance are excellent as typical for Michelin tires in general. Light snow and particularly mushy snow driving is mediocre. I would not take it to the mountains unfortunately! I plan to trade in for Michelin Defender ( more aggressive tread) or LTX ( similar to A/S) to get a better snow/winter performance. Otherwise Michelin please advise.

Excellent cornering and absolutely no road noise

I recently replaced Goodyear on 2008 Lexus ES350. What a world of difference Michelin did to cutting road noise to whisper quiet and excellent handling n cornering. It did made my ride more enjoying experience. Fuel economy didn't make much of large difference though as I'm getting almost same mileage keeping all other things same. Highly recommended for a smoother ride.

Excellent so far

Installed Premier A/S tires on my Honda Fit just yesterday. First impressions - virtually no tire noise compared to the previous set, for a small car its a big win. Car runs much smoother. I have always installed Michelins on all my cars and they have performed flawlessly. Great tires Michelin!

Comfortable but Handling Suffers

I have a 2011 Honda Accord EX-L. It came with the Michelin Pilot MXM4 tires. 50K mile tire, I got 62K from them (tires had 3-5 mm left). They made my Accord feel like a sports car. I loved them, but I drive about 40K miles per year over no so great rural TX roads in the course of doing my job, so I thought maybe I should get something designed for longer life and improved comfort. Thus, I replaced my Pilots with the Premier A/S tires. These tires certainly are very quiet and comfortable, but they are a little scary in the handling department. Keep in mind where I came from, but the tire definitely has some stability issues if you have to make a quick evasive move around an object in the road. I thought I was going to end up in a ditch doing something I had done many times with the Pilot tires (South TX roads are full of retreads and other debris from Mexican trucks). Overall I'm happy with the quiet comfort, but I'm considering returning them based on the cornering and other handling characteristics. I don't know if it's my imagination, but it feels like my car doesn't accelerate as well either. I think the Pilots grabbed the road faster and didn't give as much, so the car moved when I said go. It's probably not a fair comparison, but I thought the review might be helpful for those considering a similar transition. You are giving up more handling in the compromise than you might expect.
