Super easy to operate

Super easy to operate! I live in Louisiana and bought this in preparation for hurricane season this year. It eases my mind to know that I will have power if there is a storm that hits! Having that extra security is invaluable when natural disasters cause disruption in our lives

This is a work horse of a portable generator

This generator is not for a weak person. It weighs slightly over 400 lbs, so be warned. Unit arrived nicely packaged, no dents or scratches anywhere. I had the pickup handle and wheels installed within 30 minutes after unpacking the unit. Poured the oil in and attached the battery cables. I think it took me a little over 45 minutes for the whole routine, plus I did stop to read the instructions to make sure I didn't miss something. Not a single bolt, carter pin or anything else left over except for the oil fill funnel of which I will keep. I checked everything over and over, put gas in it, turned the gas on, and hit the power button. No start the first time. I hit it again, and it fired right up. I checked the voltages with a digital multi-meter on all of the plug in places. Everyone of them were giving proper electrical readings. I haven't had to use the unit yet, but I have no doubt it will keep my home up and running during power outages. I'm getting an electrician to do all the generator to house wiring, so that's coming soon. This is a 4 stroke engine, 4 cycle engine that has pressure lube. Nothing but pluses here.

Verry Pleased

I struggled to find a generator big enough to run my 220v arc welder but small enough to be portable and have THD <5% for clean smooth welds. This fit the bill with a good price vs a Hobart 225. So far i have run it for break in following the manufactureres directions. Started right up and produced power to light up some lights and a drill. Will try welding with it with my 110 Lincoln welder today. That should be about 6000 watts of useage. It is pretty big and heavy, but wheels around easily enough. Assembly was easy too. Just 2 wheels, hook up battery, fill with gas and supplied oil.

Very nice

Amazingly light, compact, with easy to operate controls and simple instructions. Even maintenance functions are easy. For charging 12 batteries (with a battery charger/conditioner, buy separately) this generator works great - it sips gasoline but still puts out usable power.

Maximum Performance

I have already used this generator during a power outage. Enough capacity to power refrigerator, stove top, microwave, freezer, hot water heater, and several plugs and lamps. Easy to start. One feature I wish it had is a backup pull cord start. So keeping battery charged for electric start is important.

Almost Everything As Expected From Advertisement

Big, heavy, no joking generator. Ran nearly everything from 3400 sqft, 2 story home:water heater, oversized gourmet double refrigerator, stove (yes baking), lighting, and microwave. Upstairs 2 ton heat and air unit bogged it down. Turned off upper ac/heat, then lower 3.5 ton was too much, flipped generator breaker (all this through house 40 amp generator breaker!!) So, no brainer, we plan to utilize fireplace and 1-3 space heaters in winter. Downsides: -LOUD, btw..., cannot operate home on idle mode. -No wifi data software interface for wattage/amp pull/usage. -50 amp breaker on generator seem flimsy and not rugged as with other home transfer switches or otherwise.

Using with generlink

I bought the wgen9500df It started right away put in 1.5 qts of 10-30 oil and am running for an hour for initial start up Purchased to tie into a generlink to run most of my house during power outages Have not installed yet but power company says it's Very easy Went this route vs a transfer switch as it's simple you just plug in the unit to your existing meter and hook up the generator and you can run as many breakers as your generator can manage

Just installed, so we will see how it goes

So far so good! I hooked up my home to this generator for emergencies. It seems to have no problem running everything in our home and swimming pool pumps - excluding our A/C and heater. We have a 4,300 sf home. The pool pumps are important in the event of a freeze - they keep the pipes from freezing and busting. I feel much better having this generator in place!!

Starting Problems

I bought it a year ago, I only used it 4 times for around 30 to 40 minutes, 5 months ago the battery was completely discharged, 2 days ago it happened again, I charged the battery but the motor tries to start and stops, I can't make it start, I've already checked everything, oil, battery, gasoline, connections, everything the manual advised me to do. I'm going to try technical support through the Westinghouse website, because it's impossible to reach anyone by phone.
