I have had 5 sets of the ...

I have had 5 sets of the LTX M/S and now I own a set of the LTX M/S2. These tires have taken me through Death Valley, mining roads over the Sierra, bumper deep snow, Black Rock desert and many more. These tires have never let me down, it doesn't matter if I'm towing, hauling rock or off roading. They perform well. True, they are not a "Hard Core" off road tire. But I have never gotten stuck in mud, sand or snow. I did get a Sage branch stuck in the side wall. It took 3 days for the tire to flat, enough time to get home. I rate these "5*" because they do well in all of my needs. My truck has around 350.000 miles of highway and off road driving. I have not had a roadside or off road flat. I have done some stupid things where I was not sure if I could reverse my way out. The tires did have enough grip to get us back on solid ground.

New to Michelin

I'm pretty new to Michelin, having bought my first set a few months ago for my 2001 GMC Jimmy. I've since added a set of these tires to my 2004 GMC Sierra 4wd pickup. So, I guess that says that I like what I'm seeing from the tires. I've always had a good impression of Michelin and now, thus far, I can say they definitely give a nice ride. Haven't had the occasion to drive in snow because we don't get that much. Also, I'm not going off-road, just doing town and highway driving. So, I cannot address how these LTX M/S2 tires would perform off-road. Frankly, if I used my pickup as a farm vehicle or for camping, I might be more inclined to get Michelin's all-terrain version. But, for now, let me say that I am pleased with both sets of tires and I'm hoping that I will get great mileage from them. They are, admittedly, a bit more expensive than other brands that I looked at. But, if their durability and mileage give me excellent performance, it will be worth the extra. I am confident in recommending these tires.

BEST SET THIS 240,000 MILE JEEP HAS HAD

1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo has been owned since new for 19 years by a tire expert - 240,000 dealer-serviced miles! The first two sets were the original equpment domestic-made tires - they were OK. The next set was produced by a high-end manufacturer known for racing tires - they were pretty harsh. Next set was from Michelin's biggest competitor - they had a dual compound and were great until the tire aged. Then they stopped making the correct size for the Jeep. Current set is the LTX M/S2. This set along with a new pair of shocks gives the 19 year old car the feel and handling of my Mercedes sports car - with a Grand Cherokee translation. These tires are fantastic in all kinds of weather and conditions. Wish I had used Michelin from the start. Coming up on three years and they show very little wear, and the ride still amazes me every day. This is a fantastic tire - would definitely buy them again- but it doesn't look like it will be anytime soon. In fact, I just replaced the Mercedes tires at great expense - and now the Jeep has a smoother ride at high speeds than the sports car.

Good So Far

Replaced a set of LTX A/T's ~ 1600 Km ago. The A/T's had been a great tire, but were pretty beat up after a Canadian arctic trip and over 2000 Km of gravel. I elected to return to an LTX as I rarely need the A/T benefit & saw a ~5% fuel economy hit with the A/T's. So far usage has been about 50/50 gravel/paved Hwy. On the Hwy they are good w/ low noise, better gas mileage than the A/T's, good response & track well in heavy rain. On the gravel (logging roads in BC) they are also good & manage areas where the surface is soft well. The only mild complaint is they are more prone than the A/T's to trapping gravel in the treads

Best handling and longest wearing tire.

I needed a tire that would give me long mileage as well as good handling under wet conditions for my FJ Cruiser. I never expect a tire to actually last the full warranty period. But with Michelin they give their dealers the power to make adjustments immediately on your next set. This conviced me and the difference in driving was apparent as soon as I got behind the wheel. This is the best tire for the money on the market!

Major stability improvement

The used 2003 Ranger that we purchased was rather unstable on the road. While obviously needing shocks/struts, we suspected that the existing and not badly worn tires were at least part of the problem. By putting the Michelin LTX tires on our little truck, the ride was very significantly stabilized, and the tires ran a lot quieter. We have seen this behavior on both our E150 van and our Escape, so this was more expected than a surprise - though always welcomed.

Tried the rest ..finally bought the best

Tried all the major brands of light truck tires and finally bought the best. The Ltx ms2 gives a quiet comfortable ride with great tracktion st the boat ramp and wet roads. Probably wear out the truck before the tires...Would not buy buanything else.

Well worth the extra money

I have ran LTX M/S tires for years on my 4Runners some getting up to 100,000 miles before needing replacement. The new LTX M/S2's are the next generation of LTX M/S and I see no reason that they will not last as long as well! Properly balanced and rotated every 5,000 miles these tires are smooth, quiet, and still aggressive when you need it in the mud, sand or snow.

Not as good as the M/S

I have only used the LTX M/S on light trucks and SUVs for years. I have never had a set that I was dissatified with. With the M/S no longer available, I purchased a set of M/S2s. This is the first set of any Michilin tires that I DO NOT like. They handled and road good, but have NOT lasted. With only road miles, chunks are coming out of them. I'll be lucky to get 40,000 miles out of them. I usually got 80-90,000 out of the M/S. My dealer laughed when I showed him what these tires were doing.
