Safety First

I bought my set of tires in March and the main reason I buy Michelin tires is because I have found that they are the safest tires to drive on front wheel and all wheel drive cars in rain when there is a lot of standing water on highway. Prevents hydroplaning. Have bought several sets of Michelin tires, never had any issues with them.

T&H are the way to go!

I was told the T&H was better than the new 2's. So I was glad my local tire dealer still had sets of the older Defenders. Car is now extremely quiet and smooth compared to the set of Difinity tires our car came with. The old tires still had plenty of tread with only 20k of use, but were dangerously squirrelly in the wet. These Michelins are awesome in the wet!

Quiet & Efficient Tires!

I purchased these tires after 70K miles on my previous Michelins. I run them on a VW Golf TDI @ 45 PSI, and they've continued my 50+ MPG streak, all while providing a quiet and comforting ride. I've put 16K miles on them in 8 months, so I can say my overall impressions are well-earned.

What happened to what used to be great tires?

I bought these in February 2023, replacing a set of Premiere A/S,. I get there will be some handling and ride adjustment . The A/S was fabulous until they got down to 3mls. Even though they only lasted 42000 mile, I would have bought another set, I thought they were that good. The Defenders are like driving offroad tires. Every inperfection on the road surface is felt. I have had vibration thru the steering wheel and rough ride feel throughout the cabin. At just under 3000mi, I had my mechanic go over the tires and the entire front end. He rotated and rebalanced all four tires since there was nothing else he could find. This caused a reduction in the vibration but the ride is incredibly hard. I could have saved a $100/tire and just bought a private brand label for this ride. Clearly I do not recommend these tires

Great Tires

I bought these tires a year ago. What a difference. They feel solid on the road, grip the highway and hug the turns. They are great in the snow and on ice, they are all season.I have never gotten stuck with them and I only have front wheel drive. I have had Michelins before. I would definitely recommend this tires. Disappointed with predecessor Defender tread life

Bought Defenders in October 2014 for a 2009 Toyota Camry. I was impressed with reviews, and tread life advertised at 90,000. Figured a tire might not make its full tread life, but even in normal city/highway driving conditions, two of the tires are now at 2/32" after only 35,000 miles and 4 years, and should be replaced. One is at 3, and one is at four. I rotate every 5000; definitely have done one or two alignments since the initial installation alignment. Other than the tread life, the tire rode well and was quiet. I've seen other poor reviews of the Defenders due to tread life. Since then, Michelin has revised the line, so perhaps the tread life has improved.

Unbelievable Tires

Just put on second set of defenders. Over 75,000 miles on first set. Could have gone to 80,000 but cut to one tire made it unrepairable. Most smooth riding and quiet tires I have ever owned. Even with this mileage still provided excellent performance in all conditions, even wet roads. Overall excellent tires in ever category.

FINE EXCEPT FOR FUEL MILEAGE

Retired engineer-pilot, very observant of aircraft / vehicle performance. These replaced OEM tires on a Camry hybrid. PRO: Very quiet and smooth, fine ride and handling, and (based on 1 encounter) sure-footed in heavy rain. CON: High rolling resistance. Fuel mileage is down more than 5mpg.

Fantastic tire

Put a set of the Defenders on my 2016 Chevy Impala Limited LT. The day we left for vacation is was pouring rain and the day we left to come back it was poring rain with flash flooding. I could not have ask for a better tire on the wet services. Highways traveled were Black top and concrete on interstates. Handling and ride were both great. Short of Excellent is that I have not driven in snow now lets see how far they will go on wear. purchased them April of 2017

Gripping Quiet Tire

Bought four Defender T+H tires for our 2006 Honda Odyssey LX which we drive in the Midwest. The tires have very good grip in normal, dry, paved-road conditions and are very quiet. The ride has been silky smooth at all speeds. We haven't had a chance to drive with the tires in rain or snow yet. We are very happy with their performance and would purchase them again, or for another vehicle. We first found out about the Defender Tire from Consumer Reports magazine's reviews. Michelin made them affordable with their 70 dollar rebate which you can fill out online. When comparison shopping, always ask for the "out-the-door price".
