The product worked well on my lawn, but was so amazingly hygroscopic that it pulled moisture from the air and clumped as soon as I put it in the spreader. The bag was solid, like a vacuum-packed brick of coffee when I purchased it; opening it, it poured well into the spreader. Then the humidity of Alabama took hold, and it clumped. Every three feet or so, I ended up having to stir the fertilizer with a stick so that it would feed. While I'm sure the water-absorbing/retaining properties are intentional, they work a tad too well for anyone in the Deep South, or any other naturally humid clime. I am satisfied with the product, but I cannot give it a higher or recommended rating because it was terribly difficult to apply. It greened up the lawn, where I was able to apply it, though the clumping means I have streaks of GREEN grass interspersed with thatchy-brushy looking grass that will take longer to green up. While I have used many Scotts products in the past and readily recommended them, I won't be purchasing this product again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I applied this product a week ago and the lawn is beginning to respond already. It was quick and easy to use. I especially liked that it was not clumped up. The directions were easy to follow and understand.

I noticed over the past few years that a few of my neighbors had lawns that were deeper green than mine I finally figured it out. Their sidewalks were stained from irrigation with well water that has higher iron content Ive used Green Max ever since Now they ask me how my lawn looks so great This also aids in needing less water by driving the roots deeper and chokes off the weeds. Water your lawn before applying

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I spread Greenmax on my front lawn on 4/16/19 and part of the lawn was still dormant so it did not green up in 3 days. I've attached Photos from 4/16/19 before and 5/4/19 17 days after green max spread.

I read some of the reviews before using this product so I spent about 20 mins. cleaning my sidewalk and driveway to avoid staining. But I still got some stains, not a lot but quite a few. Last year I used about 4 to 6 different Scott's products and they all worked great, my lawn was thick and green and no stains. What I notice is that the other Scott's products have a white/gray color but this Green Max has a red/orange color. I think that I will go back to using the Scott's products that I used last year and avoid those stains. To those people that think this product didn't stain your driveway go back and check the edges you'll find some stains.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very happy and impressed with this Scotts® Green Max™ Lawn Food. It truly works great. We had areas in our yard that needed some extra love, and this worked just perfectly for that. Within a week my grass was healthier, greener and stronger than ever. I would indeed recommend.

I followed the directions perfectly and in three days I didn't get a greener lawn, I got a striped lawn. You can see where the spreader (scott's brand spreader dialed to the exact number specified on the bag) turned and went down each row. DO NOT USE!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I experimented this winter after a large snowstorm. On a warm day, I spread some of the product on top of the two feet of snow. Now that spring is here I noticed that the area that I spread the Green Max on was much greener than the rest of the lawn.

The label notes a regular rate and a recommended rate. There is no information provided on the difference between the 2 rates. The regular rate will cover 14k sq feet as indicated on the front of the bag. I used the regular rate since I needed the coverage. What does applying the recommended rate provide that the regular rate does not?
