I have used the MR150 portable mosquito repeller for several years and with great success. Bottom line; the technology works and works well at repelling mosquitos. I had the opportunity to upgrade to a newer model: The MR300 in a hunt pack configuration. This product includes the standard MR300 repeller unit, 1 butane cartridge and 3 repellent mats (gives you a total of about 12 operating hours). Additionally; the hunt pack includes a camouflage patterned holster with storage pockets for an extra butane cartridge and 3 repeller mats. I am an East Coast Whitetail Deer and Turkey hunter. My gear is important to me. It needs to perform it’s designed task and it needs to be reliable. There are not too many things that are more maddening than trying to sit quietly and undetected in the woods while being assaulted by a swarm of “never quit” mosquitos. This product keeps mosquitos at bay and has always performed flawlessly. I do have several points for Thermacell to consider as they seek to improve their product line. Hunters hate unnatural noises when they enter the woods. A clank, clunk, click or any sound not found in nature is a sonic alert that can ruin your day. Stealth is critical to a successful hunt. To this point; I turn my unit on when I leave the truck. While not excessively loud the switch to turn the unit on and push button ignition are sounds I like to eliminate before reaching my stand/blind. Lastly; the Velcro that secures the holster flap covering the face of the unit, no Velcro NEVER on hunting gear. That sound of Velcro opening in the woods is incredibly loud! Just another reason I secure my flap and start the unit at the truck. A magnetic button sewn into the flap would be a much better choice. All in all this is a great piece of gear. The “cons” are minor and can be overcome with a little preparation. I would and have recommended it to my friends.

I bought the MR300 unit and the first time I used it, I thought wow, this is magic. Having such a good luck with it, I quickly bought refills and that’s when magic disappeared just like that. The unit lights up no problem and the mat turns white with usage, except the mosquitoes are not even faxed by it. They come around and bite every piece of exposed skin, feet, hands, face etc. So I question the quality of the refills and I’m really starting to think that it was a money grab. Now I am stuck with 30 mats and 10 butane refills. Complete waste of money. I really tried to love this unit (and I did the first time I used it). Unfortunately the quality of the refills is not the same as the original.

I've used these hand-held models for quite some time, found out many years ago of their effectiveness. If anything could be improved, I know I can unscrew the butane container every time I quit using it but there has to be some sort of switch or a body design that covers the switch that would prevent it from being turned on accidentally in a pack? Other than that, this is a fantastic product and so much better than covering up in bug spray.

We’ve used this for picnics, camping and backyard. Works great with new insect pad which is supposed to last 4hours or when it turns from blue to white. After only using one partially we saved it but it did not seem as effective after being exposed from its packaging. I’ve bought two of these and gifted a patio unit.

I Bought the Thermacell for hunting due to the mosquito EEE virus in my area of Michigan. It has worked well so far. However, there isn't even a place to clip a lanyard to hang it. The belt clip or a lanyard loop should be standard on all these portable units. I'd give it stars with an improvement in how it can be carried.

I bought this product a year ago, used it last summer and it worked pretty good. Bring it out this summer, would not start. I had an extra battery, I installed that, it wouldn’t start. I bought a package of fresh batteries, installed one and it wouldn’t work. Totally frustrated!

Super disappointed in this product... After seeing all the great reviews and hearing from friends that these work amazing I decided to buy one but I was highly disappointed when I went out into the bushes with it had zero effect on the bugs.. I also tried it in my yard since mosquitos are really bad where I am thinking maybe it didn't work for the bugs in the bushes, and still got eaten alive by the mosquitos. I made sure the unit was running multiple times as I thought maybe it just wasn't on, but it was. Very disappointed in the product, might as well buy bug spray since it's cheaper and has more effect.

Here is SW Florida we got hammered by Hurricane Ian. Many Lani screen gone and mosquitoes are out in full force. I recommend folks buy whatever in the product line they want to survive the onslaught. I have it. Be nice if Thermacell could donate a few to the hardest hit folks here in Lee county and around us. Guaranteed to keep nasty bugs away!

Love the cove and the storage for refills. The unit as always is great and getting better. I use them when hunting, fishing, camping and working. I work out side all day every day and they are great. No sprays that run into eyes and mouth when you start sweating. The only things I would like to see changed. The cover flap, no way to secure it when wearing on belt and unit is on. The other is the colors of the print. As a hunter I want to blend in, The blue and white print when cover flap is down dose not do that. other than that. Great product as always form a great company.

I bought 4 Thermacells - two portable and 2 Patio Shields. The units themselves work great, and the poor rating has nothing to do with their ability to control mosquitosl. However I have one major complaint on the personal unit. They don't come with a belt clip. We thought they did as the pictures they display show people walking around with them clipped to their belt. I complained to the company, thinking that they forgot to include the clips, however I was told that they don't come with a clip. I could purchase a clip for an additional $12.99 - that's crazy. I bought the portable model to take with us while boating/camping and was really disappointed it did not include a clip. Come on $12.99 for a piece of plastic and a spring - No thanks! Now I'm sorry I ever purchased these.
