A Fantastic Performance Tire that Lasts

My Model 3 Performance came equipped from the factory with PS4S tires. EVs due to their high initial torque are known to wear through tires rather quickly. The original set of these PS4S tires lasted 37,000 miles before hitting the wear indicators. The second set lasted just over 57,000 miles. Yes, 57,000 miles! I daily commute 230 miles on I-95 so yes my usage is different than most other drivers. The interstate commute is probably 85% my total driving, but the other 15% is in city, and I don’t “take it easy” on my car. I check and adjust my tire pressures weekly, and check the alignment every 6 months, which is part of what I attribute to this exceptionally long tire life. I’ll be mounting up another set of PS4S tires today!

Outstanding performance!

Got these three weeks ago and well satisfied! Outstanding wet and dry traction performance. Far superior to the Goodyear F1’s. I like them better than the old Pilot Sports but they also perform far better than the Goodyear F1’s. Car has an Edelbrock Blower doing 605 HP. Pilot Sport 4s is up for the opportunity! No problem.

Started out great

I was very excited to place these rather expensive tires, (245/40R20 Pilot Sport 4S) on my 2015 Chevy Impala LTZ. Performance and ride were fantastic for the first 2000 miles. Then they started to get to get noisy, and I mean very LOUD! They make so much noise now, you can crank the Bose sound system to 10, and you can still hear them roaring! Handling is still exceptional, but the tire noise ruins the experience. I had these tires checked, for air pressure, alignment, rotated them, and still they seem to get louder, every mile I put on them. I've got less than 3000 miles on these tires and can't wait to replace them. What a shame, I love the way they handle, but it was a costly mistake.

Great ride greater grip

Bought these tires in the summer and only have 300 km on them but compared to the F1's that they replaced these are very quiet and comfortable. Not quite the low profile runflat look but fills out the wheel wells better. And the F1's took forever to heat up so they slid around quite a bit just wearing off the rubber. The Michelin's are grippy after about 20 minutes after some spirited driving. Stopping is awesome and not sure what they are like in the wet as I avoid those days. I hear they are great. Looks are also a plus! I run michelins on all my vehicles as they cannot be beat.

Horrible quality tire

I am not sure if I just have a bad batch but I purchased my car new in July with these tires on it and it has been garage kept in a conditioned garage. As of monday I started noticing the tires were dry rotting and had cracks all through them. Less than 3,000 miles on the car at that.. I contacted the dealership and was told there isn't much they can do its a Michelin problem... Go figure...

Changed my car

I purchased a 4Matic MB Coupe fitted with the Michelin Primacy tires. I switched to a set of Pilot Sport 4S tires to achieve better handling. The 4S gives a much more supple ride and greatly improved handling. The difference was significant and dramatic in ride quality and handling as if I was driving a different car. Note, I live in the south and really only drive the car in warm, dry weather. When things get cold and/or wet I drive an all-wheel drive vehicle with Michelin Defender LTX M/S which are awesome.

Pilot sport 4S

My car is a 2019 Tesla S Performance. Love the tires, but after 8000 miles went to have a nail removed and the tire shop said I need 4 new tires and “for a car with those miles I should have more tread”?? 8000 miles and new tires already OUCH. I have an appt with Tesla tomorrow.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - best tires

I have been a long time Michelin summer tire customer starting with the Pilot Super Sport model. I have used these on Audi A4, BMW 335i and FR-S. I have been using the Pilot Super Sport 4S on Mercedes SLK55, Jaguar XFR and Range Rover Sport. I have tried other tires including Pirelli PZero, but prefer the Michelin for the handling in wet/dry, cornering and less noise. I would recommend these tires to others.

Surprising Failures

I've been a solid Michelin tire fan for almost 9 years. They are the only brand I've really come to trust. But now, I'm starting to lose that trust. I've been running Pilot Super Sports since early 2012, buying both Super Sports for summer & had a set of their All Seasons for winter, going to the Pilot® Sport A/S 3+ in 2016. ALL of their tires performed flawlessly, with great handling, a nice "feel", & long life. Then, even though I had a fairly new set of PSS's, the PS4's came out, so I got a set & had them mounted up & put them on. But now, with under 15,000 miles of use, and 6 to 7 32'nds of tread still there, there are problems. My shop guy who rotates my tires every 3/4 months is telling me that the bands inside 3 of the 4 tires are separating. He's shown me the tires & the uneven surface is easy to see. I haven't felt anything odd or heard any strange sounds though. I'm absolutely baffled by this as I've never any issues with a Michelin tire before. I don't know if it's just a bad set, or a deeper issue. Having read another review here mentioning the same kind of issue, it could be either one, or both. I love Michelin, but am not sure what to make of this.

Lifelong customer

I remember going with my dad to get tires on the family car when I was a kid. He told me Michelin were the best tires made. On the way home he was so excited and couldn't stop pointing out to me the qualities of the tire. Now as an adult, all I mount is Michelin. Even if money's tight at the moment and new tires are needed, I mount Michelin. Ive had luxury sedans, luxury coupes, and sports cars. Currently I am running Pilot Sport 4S with a spare set in the garage just in case. Even when the tires are completely worn, they keep you fully confident. Michelin should sponsor me given how much I brag about their tires to everyone who brings up the subject.
