You can tell from the moment you unpack this unit that it's very high quality. I hooked it up to natural gas, it fired right up, and it runs our central air conditioning with plenty of power to spare. It's definitely loud, however, so I've ordered an enclosure for noise reduction. My only quibble with the assembly so far is that the factory installed the oil filter extremely tight. Also, replacement oil filters are out of stock, so I had to take the old one to the auto parts store to eyeball an equivalent one. Overall, I feel this unit will reliably provide power when we face our next outage.

I use the generator to keep power to to my home during power outages, usually storm related. I have it wired into my electrical panel with a generator transfer switch so that there is no chance of feedback through the panel. I have run natural gas to it, thus eliminating frequent trips to the gas station, which may also be without power. The unit is powerful enough to run my AC in hot weather and also my furnace in cold weather.

I purchased the Champion 12,000W Tri-fuel generator to run my house. I am impressed. Right out of the box it fired right up no problem. I chose to hook up using natural gas so I do not have to chase gas down in situations where power is out and no gas is available for days. It runs my house just fine - I could not be happier with the quality of this generator.

I got this generator because we live in a rural part of town, lose power about once a month for 4hrs or more at a time. We had a few times lasting over a week. I have two AC units a 3.5 ton and 1.5 ton. I was hopping to be able to run one if we lose power in the summer here in Texas. But to my suprise this ran both with no problems. I have it connected to NG 3/4 line.

I bought this specifically because of the power output x fuel input options - the choices below do not allow for that reason, so I picked price as that is the least contentious. Good - runs well on natural gas, holds frequency pretty well to within 1/2 Hertz or so, generally starts easily, runs most of the house and 1 floor AC unit at a time. Set-up instructions are easy to follow. Accessories set delivered with unit is decent. Easy to operate. Electric start nice touch and reliable. Layout logical and clear. Oil changes are easily done however 1400ml oil capacity is an odd volume. Not as heavy as expected and trundles around on the supplied wheels ok. Not so good - CO cut-out is a little sensitive - in a well-ventilated outside location. Takes several minutes to restart after CO cut-out (understandably) but also takes a long time to restart if it stalls out when running on natural gas. Won't start if fuel switched to natural gas - will only start and run while on propane setting - even on the natural gas line. No idea why that would be. Desperately needs a current delivery meter as part of the rolling data on the screen - the power bar is pretty much useless. The choke cable wasn't assembled correctly, so I had to correct that, and a few bolts worked themselves loose - clearly thread-lock is in short supply on the assembly line. A little slow to react to 20 Amp loads being switched into the circuit and struggles to catch up. Needing attention - Noisy - Champion should be capable of building and supplying an acoustic shield to quieten the unit down. The oil filters - easy to change, but hard to purchase - no-one has the Champion OE filter as delivered on the unit, even the big 'A'. Best substitute and at a great price, the Universal Generator Parts Industrial Filter #0867439 - about 3/8" longer but fits into place ok. Needs a vertical exhaust muffler option, like a tractor style.

Bought it for a home standby unit. Used it 2 times no issues. Now last Thursday after the storm hit Houston, went to start it and would not start. Ended up jumping over the starter with a screwdriver. Contacted Champion (Unit is still under warranty) sent a new starter, put it on samething Their customer support gives you the run around on things that is wrong and seems their warranty for getting the generator fixed is a bunch of BS They cannot/ will not even tell you where a warranty center is to take the generator Save yourself the headache & heartache and buy a total different brand.

After a significant amount of research, i decided to purchase the Champion tri-fuel 12/15 kw portable generator. Having endured hurricane Helene in the metro-Greenville area, I learned that gasoline only generators are a limiting option if you don't have a sufficient supply of gasoline when the fuel stations have no power. A massive power outage could make gasoline hard to get. Thus the alternative fuel capabilities of the tri-fuel unit are very attractive. As far as the unit goes, the 50-amp plug can be run to your breaker box on a 50-amp transfer switch, plus there are 2 30-amp plugs of independent power along with 4 120v standard plugs. With the 120/240 volt 30-amp plug you can run a multi-plug power distribution box, such as the Southwire 30-amp power box (8 plugs). Champion is a very high quality product and highly respected in the industry. Thus, with this solution you get fuel flexibility, plus excellent power supply options. A great solution without the cost of a stationary, home stand-by system. However, there is a fit for all the various solutions available. It just depends on how you evaluate and see fit to fulfill your needs. There are many great solutions, this is certainly one of them.

My home is all gas appliances with a 3.5-ton AC at 1900sf. I am running this generator on a 3/4-inch take-off/natural gas plumbing line at the gas meter and a 20ft 3/4-inch portable natural gas line. I have a soft start on my AC unit. The generator can run my entire home with the AC on, the dryer on, the washing machine on, the microwave on, all lights on, all ceiling fans on, all floor fans on, all TVs on, and my computers on. No problems, in fact, the voltage bar never got above three of six bars on the generator. I had to put a little extra work into setting up the portable generator versus a whole house generator installation but the price is 1/4 to 1/3 the cost and the generator is portable. It also runs on natural gas, propane, or gasoline. The customer service is 24/7 from Champion. I highly recommend this generator. My buddy, after seeing how well it works for me, just ordered himself one.

Easy to assemble I connected to the house natural gas and after a couple of start push it started like a champ. It kept my house cool from 2 PM until next morning at 9 with no problem. My neighbors were jealous and came and asked for information and he was shock to see that technology run from NG, LP, and then gas.

I bought this generator without any previous experience or recommendation. It came very well packed and it was really easy to set it up. The operation is really simple and I could get it running at no time. This generator is capable of hold my entire house (almost 3000 ft3). I was surprise that I could run my 2 AC units (4 ton and 2.5 tons) at the same time. It is really powerful and strongly recommend.
