I bought this product thinking it would be simple and easy to use. Instead, (I have arthritis), it took me 15 minutes to find a way to pry open the "easy open" lid. Imagine my surprise, when I now see a black plastic piece inside and a small white "cover" under that. NO instruction on what to do next. Should I try to break the black plastic piece so I can get to the white seal underneath? It appears to be welded in place, so I started poking at the white seal. Again, NO instruction, no arrow, no poke here. I finally got a small wedge of an opening, and after using a knife, scissors, and finally a screwdriver to poke it into the container was able to actually see the product. It took forever to spread since the white plastic kept resurfacing and getting in the way of the opening for the product. Never again. PS - nothing on your website about how to open either.

Doesn't work! I actually bought a couple of these and wish I had only bought one because I used it and it didn't work. I have a big bag I bought at the same time that is too late to return to the store but seeing as the kind in the jug didn't work, I have no doubt the bag won't either. It's a shame because I really like all other Scotts products. We've been complimented on our lawn before and I say it's because I use the Scotts Turfbuilder several times a year.

We put in new pathways and gardens this year. A lot of our lawn was disturbed, and all along our new pathways was bare. I put down fresh soil, added the ez seed as directed, and have watered twice a day (it’s been really dry and hot). 3 days have gone by and I have lots of gras starting to pop up in all spots I applied. I’m amazed at how quickly we are seeing results. Very pleased!

If you have nice green manicured grass, don't use this product to fill in bare spots. The blades of grass are wide and light green, it looks like weeds. This might be good for erosion control or somewhere you don't care what it looks like. I used it in front of my house around a tree. It did grow, but it is ugly grass. I'll be spraying that whole area with Roundup towards the end of the summer and starting over with better seed in the fall.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Scotts® EZ Seed® Sun & Shade (New Formula) last week on a super thin spot near the driveway. In the past I've always used the stuff that looks like green fluff. I love the EZ seed because it comes in a great shaker container that can be sealed if you don't use it all. It shakes out really evenly & doesn't all clump out at one time. It's only been 6 days in the heat of August & I'm seeing grass : ) I've been relentless about watering the spot a little every morning but there is always something to water. I really like that the mulch part turns light brown if it's starting to get dry so you can tell exactly what it needs easy breezy. I'm getting great results & getting grass to grow has always been a struggle for me. I like the EZ seed much better than the green clumpy stuff because it's so easy to shake out & I'm not in it with my hands or getting down on my old knees. Fast results too! I should add that my spot is in full sun.

I had a lot of small patches (less than 6” diameter) and some bigger ones. This product worked pretty well on the smaller bare areas and less well on the bigger ones. One of the bigger patches came in nicely (after several applications), two other ones came in pretty poorly. Overall this is a much better product than PatchMaster. What I found is that I ended up applying EZ Seed a few times to the same area. This helped tremendously but as mentioned a couple of spots would not take no matter what I did. Overall the product is good for filling in smaller bare spots and not so good for say a 12” or bigger bare spots. Also, I suggest you apply this as early as possible to give the grass a chance to get stronger prior to winter.

I was reluctant to use it due to its appearance of a lot of ground up newspaper. It was easy to apply and spread with a rake and when I soaked it with water it flattened out and remained in place. I think it will do a good job of filling in the bare spots

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] IF you have mistakes in your lawn, wear spots, dog spots, dead areas for whatever reason - this is your solution! this seed product EZSEED will grow ANYWHERE as long as you keep it watered!! This is amazing - it fixed the edge of my patio in a matter of a few days. The only thing I have done wrong in the past is set it down too think! otherwise, great fix for small areas!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this to spot seed my yard after a long nasty winter. I roughed up the spots and then just sprinkled the seed mixture followed by re-smoothing with my rake. It rained that day and the mixture doubled in size... rather interesting looking. By the end of the week ... 7-8 days later, the seed was germinating. All the spots in my yard filled in fabulously. Very happy customer.

Had bare spots in mostly shady areas. Where I had roughed up the ground and partially buried the seeds it grew like gangbusters! Couldn't be more pleased! Where I had just spread it on the bare hard ground it had much less growth, but still got started so it can eventually grow in. Overall very much worth the price. :-)
