Upon advice from my doctor to purchase a better a/c filter, I researched and purchased two of these. We quickly noticed a difference in the air quality, my headaches and sneezing are much better now. I am allergic to dust mites and my cats dander - I am extremely impressed. When I clean, there is far less dust accumulated on surfaces in my house which is lovely. After changing the filter recently we found out why - this filter is blocking everything. So great! We are considering investing in higher grades of the Filtrete brand because this one has done so well.

We've been using your filters for many years and have had one recurring issue. The housing for the filter doesn't have a lot of wiggle room, but it requires and accepts a 4" filter, so while the filter usually slides in just fine, getting it out is a challenge. It's ok if I am disposing of the old one and installing a new filter, but if I have to pull it for any kind of service, it gets destroyed in the process of extraction and that gets expensive when I have to replace a minimally used filter. My furnace company has worked on the housing and done as much as possible to improve the opening. What I notice is that the cardboard framing that contains the filter does not fit tightly and in fact bulges even on a brand new filter. This frame is what gets caught both going in and coming out of the houing. I would appreciate any feedback you might have pertaining to this issue. I apologize for the long-winded e-mail, but I wanted to clearly describe the issue I have with what is otherwise a fine filter system. Thank you, Harry Saxe

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is absolutely the best air filter I have found for my home. We had some minor construction in our kitchen, Sheetrock, taping and sanding. Dust was everywhere. Installed one of these Filtrete Healthy living filters and the air quality improved within minutes. I change my filter every season, the Healthy Living filters trap so much dust, dander and who knows what else. Great product worth the price!

We purchased this filter for the first last year. It is an amazing filter. Product does a great job filtering out dust in our home. You can actually see the difference in the minimal amount of dust in the house. It's a great product. Would recommend to any body needing a filter.

Buyers beware: The actual size of the 16x20x4 was reduced at some point last couple of years. As the result it doesn't properly fit in Honeywell / Lennox filter boxes, despite the advertisement on the packaging. The filter size used to be 15-7/8" x 19-7/8" x 4-5/16". The new filter size is 15-7/16" x 19-3/4" x 4-5/16", so it is 7/16" (1 cm) narrower than the old filter.

I HAVE searched and cannot find a better filter than Filtrete. Not only does it make a noticeable difference in the air quality of our home, it has literally saved our HVAC unit. As do most new construction homes, ours came with the standard 'builder grade' system. Coincidentally, we have had a lot of storms and power surges this past summer. When our system (along with seven others in our neighborhood) burnt out last month, we were miraculously able to replace only the compressor, as opposed to the whole system. Since it came at a bad time for us financially, we had to opt for replacing the compressor only. Our HVAC technician told us that had we not been using good filters and replacing them regularly, that would not have been an option. Even though we will eventually have to replace the whole unit, we now have some wiggle room and time to save up. Meanwhile, our 'builder grade' unit and Filtrete filters are functioning beautifully. Thank you, 3M!!! You saved our lives (quite possibly literally--from this Southern heat and humidity)and allowed us some time to research and save for a new HVAC unit down the road a bit.

Bought first one in October 2014... 3 adults, a 1 year old & 4 dogs live here so I wanted a good filter. I saw them on a home show so I tried them now they are the only ones for us. I am a 65 year young grandma & clean air is very portant especially for my grand-daughter. Love your product. Thanks Kathy Alexander

Bought this yesterday, installed today, it is about a 1/2 inch bigger than the filter it is replacing. Had to force it in the inlet opening, have always had to change my filters every 2 months, I hope this will last longer. and this is just a 2 year old house, and we had the furnace vents cleaned out earlier this year. I am impressed with the fact that the filter uses cotton versus paper as it filtration media.

We bought a new furnace 10 years ago and didn't like the flimsy filter that the company provided. I researched filters online, in particular for old homes with pets, and found this filter. I am happy when I change it and find all sorts of particles, large and small, that have been caught in the filter.

Had problems breathing, eyes itched, migraines nonstop. Finally went to an ears, nose, throat specialist and was diagnosed with numerous severe allergies. Started on medication but it was not doing the full job. We saw these filters and decided to try them. What a difference! I could not believe how dirty the filter was. The first time we replaced it after the three months which is recommended. We changed it monthly for three months following that than every two months for the next 3 changes. Each month it became a bit less dirty. We could not be happier with the cleaner air!
