We first ate Medjool Dates while living in Jerusalem Israel, receiving dinner at a festive musical event near En Gedi. They were grown fresh locally, full of flavor, and easy to find everywhere, Back in the states, they were also available, but grown out west, locally. We ordered a few pounds and were pleasantly surprised that they tasted as good and had that certain, distinct texture. We just recently discovered them at Sam’s, priced right in their 2 lb containers, Whole with Pits, Organic, and grown out in the west. They are naturally processed to give them a long shelf life at cool RT, and even longer if refrigerated. I’ve never found one with mold on their skins, and it’s highly unlikely mold would ever grow in their interiors. If I ever do find a bad date, I’m certain Sam’s would offer a refund or an exchange, or both. My advice is try them for the treat that they are and enjoy the nutrition they provide!

I used to love these. Lately not good. Bought a pack yesterday. First date was leathery and stale-disappointing because I purchase from Sam’s just because they are so fresh. Second date was sore….but tasted rotten and I looked inside and saw black mold of some sort! I’m taking these back because they aren’t cheap and I ain’t gonna be hustled like that, no sir. Another reviewer noted that now that the dates have been labeled organic, they’ve had issues like this, and they aren’t as good as before. I’m less upset about the mold and more upset that now I don’t know where I can get good, quality dates.

I have been buying dates from Sams forever. Now Sams has discontinued the old product and replaced with Same but marked ORGANIC. The more expensive ORGANIC dates is stale, leathery and dry. I will be returning it. Please bring back the old non-organic Dates back.

I bought this many times since I first saw it over five years ago. Most of the time most of the dates were fairly soft. But this time most of them were drier and hard harder. Maybe they weren’t completely ripe. Should buy a better quality brand like he used to have. Or tell your supplier you only want mostly softer & riper dates.

Delicious, sweet, chewy snack. High in fiber and caly, so I don’t buy regularly.
