98,000 miles!

Unbelieveable product! This is my third set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires. I replaced my LTX M/S tires with LTX M/S 2. MY LTX M/S TIRES LASTED 98,000 MILES AND STILL HAS 4/32" TREAD LEFT! All performance attributes were still great including wet traction and low noise. Replaced them just to be safe. I've not purchased tires anywhere but Tire Rack since 1985 and see no reason to switch tire brands or retailer.

Less then perfect

This is my second set and by far these are less then great, with only 36,000 miles on them they slip (hydroplane) when there is a little water on the road and they slip at start up even on dry roads. I have them rotated every 5,000 miles, I check and correct tire pressure every 30 days, I am wondering if the rubber is now a harder substance, hopefully they make it to 70,000 miles

Thanks for the honest feedback. Sounds like you’ve been taking great care of your tires, so we totally get your frustration. The Defender LTX M/S is designed for long-lasting traction, but performance can vary depending on wear, road conditions, and vehicle setup. We’d recommend having a local dealer take a look to see what’s going on. And if you want to chat with us directly, feel free to call 866-866-6605 (Mon–Fri 8 AM–7 PM EST, Sat 9 AM–1 PM EST) —we’re happy to help!

Tire Quality

I have been buying Michelin tires for 40 years now. Overall I have been quite satisfied with the wear patterns, reliability and service life of the tires. I have had Michelin tires on light trucks, vans, SUV's, sedans, sports cars and mid-range trucks. The Defender LTX M/S for my 2015 RAM 2500 4x4 Turbo diesel 3/4 ton truck only lasted 20 months and less than 30,000 miles. They were religiously rotated every 5,000 miles, not used for heavy loads or towing, little mountain road driving and no off road use. They all four (4) wore evenly but did not reach any where near the 50,000 service life expectancy.

Vibration is an issue

I always buy Michelin. I installed a set of these tires on my F-150 December 2016. When it's very cold these tires literally shake my truck as if they are solid, I am talking temperatures in the teens. They ride like that for miles. As the temperatures warm up, they still shake quite a bit until they are driven maybe 20 miles at expressway speeds. At temperatures over 65 degrees, these tires ride smooth as glass, so I know that my vehicle does not have any mechanical issues. I can't stand the vibrations these tires cause, very annoying ride! I more than likely will have to dispose of a brand new set of tire and find something else.

Good braking but a little more noise than normal

I love Michelin tires and have always been pleased with them. I purchased these and traded them for a different Michelin because they made a lot of noise when I was driving on the highway. It may have been a defective tire in the mix, it was hard to tell. The service department traded them out for me. The tires did brake well and handled well in the rain.

Awesome Tires

I've had the LTX AT 2, and the LTX M/S2 on my last two vehicles and just replaced a set of M/S2s with the new Defender LTX M/S. Very nice ride on my Tahoe, two things like like better over the M/S2, the tread is actually a little deeper which will help since I live in snow country in the winter. Also the ride seems better along with less road noise. Overall I think Michelin hit a home run with these. one Awesome tire and will recommend to anyone that asks!

Defender LTX M/S

Michelin customer since early 1980's. Use Michelin tires on all my vehicles, including motorcycle. Could always make a purchase being confident in the quality of the tires. July 6,2017 purchased new Defender LTX M/S to replace the LTX AT tires that had 55000 miles on them. The AT tires performed excellently. Change to Defender since I only drive on road. Have driven just over 500 miles on new tires and can't believe these are Michelin tires. Road noise is terrible, smoothness of ride ridiculously poor. Old tires at 55000 out performed these. 2 Hr.Highway ride with wife and she commented on the poor ride. Would not recommend these tires.

Disappointed.

Smooth enough ride, feels like a sure grip ... but a tad noisy compared to our previous tires. The biggest disappointment is with the mileage. After expecting a modest improvement based on the marketing claims, our mileGe actually dropped from 10.7 to 11.5 with our mid-sized SUV ... same driving environment and driving habits ... 25/75 city/highway driving. Would not recommend these tires yet, based on our 2,000 km experience. The value just isn't there. We were expecting more from our first ( and, sadly, probably our last) purchase of this brand.

Unbelievable quality, I’m shocked

This photo was taken by an associate at my local dealership when I took my GMC Yukon XL in for an unrelated recall fix. I tote my children on 7 hour drives to a children’s hospital at least once a month on high speed interstates. I just want to personally thank Michelin for the quality, otherwise we would’ve had blow outs. BOTH of the front tires were like this because my alignment was so off (unbeknownst to me, of course.) A blow out could’ve easily happened and if I had been going 80+ mph it would’ve been fatal, serious injuries at the very least. I had been driving on THREADS with a very heavy vehicle. I’m a lifetime Michelin buyer, but even moreso now and I’ll tell everyone how great they are. Thank you, Michelin, from the bottom of my heart for such an amazing, quality product and keeping your customers safe!
