Keep for emergencies and farm development

This is perfect for our requirements, here at home to keep the portable AC going IF NECESSARY, fridge/freezers. But great at the farm to run power tools and have available at the 'bug out' shelter/cabin. Easy to start, quiet, and versatile to move around. Recommend using non-ethanol gas exclusively,

Good product and excellent customer support.

I bought this generator less than a year ago. For some reason it used to surge after a few hours of operation. At the beginning started failing after 4-5 hrs of continuous operation, initially a smaller surge, just little variation on the rpm’s but getting bigger to the point of shutting itself down. Lately the problem used to start after only a few minutes of operation. I took it to the authorized service center where they try to fix it. Initially they thought it was a fouled carburetor but to their surprise it was completely clean(I run the gen on marine gas without alcohol plus I add additives) so after getting in touch with technical support at Generac they decide the problem came from the inverter/computer. After replacing the part the generator improve a little bit but the problem was still there so Generac without any complaints sent me a new one. Kudos for their great customer support. I received the new generator 2 days ago and today will be the first time using it in a camping trip, hopefully it won’t have the same issue.

Lasted 10 hours

Was thrilled to get this unit and did a ton of research before purchasing. I ran this unit for approximately 10 hours and the digital screen stopped working. This was under a minimal load and under normal weather. After I shut it down for the day there was fuel leaking out of the case and onto the ground. I haven't been able to identify the leak but I suspect its likely carburetor related. I am currently working on locating a service repair dealer which is much harder than I thought it would be. The only dealer I have found listed on the Generac website who actually does repairs is 16 weeks out. I might have got a lemon of a unit but regardless its frustrating that there is no great repair options.

Runs good, good value, but hard to start- found workaround

I bought the GP2500i new a the beginning of December 2021 to provide some backup power if the electricity went out. I wasn't looking for a home backup- just to charge cellphones, led lights, run a single 1500W heater, power the fridge or freezer now and then to keep things from spoiling. From the unit's initial start-up, it took 5+ pulls to get it started. Successive starts were the same. 8-10 pulls to get it to start. Fresh fuel, 90+ Octane, no difference. From other reviewers on other websites, this seems to be a problem with this unit. However, I saw a post from a reviewer on another website with the same problem and he suggested 5-6 slow pulls with the unit set on Run, flip to Choke and then quick tugs to start. I tried his suggestion and it worked- 6 slow pulls followed by 3 actual quick pulls and it started and ran with no problems. I then ran it 20 min with 3/4 load. Stopped it for 5 mins to add fuel and it restarted on Run with 1 pull. This is with 60 day old, 91 octane gas treated for ethanol and storage protection. I would give the unit 5 stars if it started better. Other than that, it's a a great value for the money for the usable wattage it has. I hope this information is helpful.

Very Nice

I purchased a GP3000i I never had a portable generator I had a big roll around one and was hard to start. The GP3000i was easy to setup and started first pull. I can't believe how quiet it is and seems like it is good quality. I would definitely recommend this generator.

Got gp3000i for my rv less than a month old.

Run Ac ok, but the micro wave was also turn on at the same time overload. Overload led came on and voltage drop out which is to be expected. Went to shut it off and restart to reset to recover, it would not shut off. Had to unplugged the spark plug to shut it off? Started again voltage was correct ran AC fine, but could not shut it off. Looks like the Ignition module went bad? Called one of the company that was recommended for warranty they would not do genrac warranty repairs? Took it to another repair out fix to get it repaired they copy my 3yr extended warranty information which I had purchased as well. Not a good feeling about the warranty issue. Product may have issue with the ignition / control module? Will find out. Other than not being able to reset the unit after overload, whether automatic recovering or restarting unit, it still work fine. They need to look at redesigning the ignition/control module to be more robust. Waiting see see what the results will be? It’s a good product if they fix this issue.

Quiet yet powerful!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We originally didn't plan on opening up this generator until our Memorial Day camping trip next weekend but a downed tree on our power lines at home this passed week changed that plan! We were without power for just one day but with the help of our flashlights on our phones, my husband and I were able to put it together. The Generac iq3800 Dual Fuel portable generator comes fully assembled but we had to make sure the battery was connected, add oil, and then add gasoline. We didn't have a propane tank which can also be used. It was surprisingly easy to assemble since this is our first generator we owned, we assumed it may be more difficult. On the contrary, it took us about 20 minutes to get it ready to go. It weighs a little over 100 lbs but the wheels and handle make it very easy to move around. The digital display makes it easy to see how much fuel we had in there and all the controls are very easy to read and use. Start up is very simple my husband was able to do so on his first try. I like that there is a carbon monoxide detector along with auto shut off if the levels reach danger. That makes it very comforting when using a generator. We used high quality extension cords to thread thru the house and plugged in the fridge, two lamps, one TV, and charger for our phones for the night. Our local electric company had the power back on in about 8 hours and it lasted the whole time. I am very impressed! Especially since the noise level is fairly quiet and we had it on overnight (didn't disturb our sleep or neighbors at all!). Definitely a lifesaver in this instance and we can both highly recommend this generator!

Good features and quiet running.

Love the new generator, with an easy start electric starter. I went thru the process of adding the oil, etc. The generator arrived with a dead battery. I charged the battery , it started and ran quietly and efficently. l started the generator once a week just to keep ths system operational. My only problem is I need to charge the battery every time I go to start the generator. The battery does not hold a charge. The battery arrived needing a charge, and every time I go to start the generator I still need to charge the battery again.

Hard to start and you can’t get to the spark plug.

Because it’s kind of an idiot proof user interface. You can’t turn the gas off, so I’m sure it floods itself regularly. If you want to check the spark plug you can’t because the sound insulation is cockeyed to the plug so you can’t get a socket on it I might have to take a knife to it, or just buy a Honda.
