Add more trouble with this product right out of the box

It's a big generator a heavy generator and a very very noisy generator. We've had trouble from day one we've had to replace the starter once and after that and has run rough the Generac dealership worked on it and said it was something to do with the engine. I have bought suitcases from Generac the IP series and had no trouble with him this one my friends is noisy heavy bulky you cannot read the panels on them it's an LED readout very very hard to read I just wish Jen erect had stayed with the gauges they used on the suitcases generators. Also trying to get to the oil spout is very difficult to change the oil I had to buy a pump just to pump the oil out of it. There's a lot of features that need to be worked on this generator. I bought two of them for our deer camps both have the same problems.

Dual fuel awesome

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been using the Generac iQ3800 Dual Fuel Portable Generator for a while now, and I’m really impressed with how easy it is to operate. The push-button start works flawlessly, and the design makes it super portable with the built-in handle and wheels. It’s definitely built to last—feels very durable and reliable. I also appreciate the Economy Mode to help save fuel, and the LED display makes it simple to monitor everything. Great generator for both work and outdoor use!

GENERAC 3500 IO

I purchased the 3500 IO back in 2020 in Texas. To date I have 7558.7 hours on the unit, it went through the Big Freeze in Texas, kept my neighbors homes heated during power outages. This unit has had the oil changed every 250 hrs (30W), Lucas upper cylinder gas additive occasionally, a new pull cord at 5800 hrs and a yearly plug change. I recommend this unit for all your uses up to 25 amps, it hasn't let me down. Great unit

Great looking , quiet and affordable generator!

Researched inverter generators on YouTube for hours to find the perfect unit to power my camper at unserved sites. Narrowed my choice down to the Honda EU 3000is or the Generac iQ 3500, but it was the Generac’s cost that made it the easy decision! For being equally (or possibly even more) quiet, 20lbs lighter and having nicer features such as a keyless starting switch, automatic choke, and a display screen for monitoring voltage output and run time to gauge oil changes it knocked it out of the park!! Generac…please make a nice fitted storage cover for this generator! It is a beautiful unit and deserves one! Only one complaint is that the generator started surging right out of the box brand new. I carefully added the included engine oil to the correct level and poured in clean, fresh gas but it needed a carburetor cleaning probably from having residual gas sitting in the carburetor or float bowl during product testing before packaging and sitting in a warehouse for 2 years until I purchased it. Service was covered under warranty, it was just the inconvenience of having to take a brand new unit in and the frustration of fiddling with it myself for 4 hours previous to the service. (I removed and cleaned the carburetor personally, the service centre only removed the float bowl as people are lazy now). ***Be mechanically inclined if you buy this generator. Good service doesnt’ exist anymore. No one will help you. 😑***

Great Product

I bought this generator because I needed something lighter and easier to handle. Have no problems whatsoever with my generator. The only issue I have is I would love to have a wheel kit for my GP3300i, when I go online the only kit they show on all sites is for the 3500 model.

So far very happy with this generator

So far I have used this to run a fridge, tv, and network gear during a power outage from a sever thunderstorm. Had it running for a couple of hours until power was restored. It starts up pretty easy. The engine bogs a bit under surge loads, but that's life. With eco mode off it handles the surge well enough that it does not seem to be an issue. Prior to the power outage I had been heat cycling the engine to help it break in. Basically led it idle in eco, off eco, with a load and without, shut down and let it cool and cycle it again. I did purchase an install an hour meter to measure engine rpm and run time so I can be on top of the maintenance cycle. Put some silicone grease on the grommets for the access panel to make it pop on and off easier. It is fairly quiet and easy to carry. Being quiet is important as I have neighbors on all sides of me, so not lookin to upset anyone. You know how people are these days... I am happy to have this around, even the wife, who was initially against it, was happy to be able to enjoy some sort of normal life while the power was out. I always stressed about losing the contents of the fridge/freezer. I am now looking for a way to see if I can power our furnace in the winter if needed.

It runs the RV AC and it's quiet.

The Generac GP3000i is a great little generator. I almost didn’t buy it because I couldn’t find any reviews. I’m glad I did - It’s quiet, light weight, easy to operate, and powerful enough to run the 13,500 BTU A/C unit in my Airstream. I can’t comment on reliability or durability yet, but Generac has a good reputation so, I’m not worried about that. This is the second generator I bought this summer. The first was a lower cost open frame generator (NOT a Generac) which leaked oil like crazy and was so loud the campers in Shenandoah National Park applauded when it turned off. In looking for a replacement, I really wanted something quiet and powerful enough to run our RV A/C. So far the Generac meets all my expectations. Light weight ~ 59lbs. It’s pretty similar to lifting a dumbbell. It can be done with one hand. Super Quiet – is an accurate description. At 20 feet it’s slightly louder than ambient noise. Power – it barely surges when starting the Airstream A/C (2-3 second surge) and then normalized almost instantly. It had no trouble running the A/C and everything else in the trailer concurrently (running the microwave at the same time as the A/C is too much). Easy to start – typically starts in one easy pull. My only complaint (and this is small) is that I had to buy a RV 30 amp adapter to connect to the Twistlock Outlet. It was ~ $12.

Worst Inverter generator ever

A total waste of money. Started generator every 3 months for first year. Let it run. All good. Needed to use it and would not work at all. Could not generate any power. Took it for service (of course out of warranty)come to find out the electronic board that processes that power was shot. received an estimate of $400 to repair my $700 generator that was like new. Generac rep said they had issues, but unfortunately my unit was out of warranty, To Bad. Wont be ever be buying a Generac Inverter Generator. When I get the money, I will be looking at Honda. Total waste of $700+, plus not having a unit when my power went out.

This generator saved our business after the July 28 storm knocked out power in Ripon, WI

We are the owners of J&G's Place 2B, a bed and breakfast in Ripon, WI. A massive storm hit Ripon and surrounding areas on July 28, 2021 and shortly after midnight we lost power during the middle of EAA Airventure, when Oshkosh hosts the world's largest airshow for a week. This is also the busiest week of the year for our business. A requirement for a bed & breakfast license is that you MUST HAVE HOT WATER, otherwise you are to close immediately. We were looking at a couple of thousand of dollars of lost revenue if we could not stay open. I got out our Generac 3500IO for the first time, a bit worried about making it work. It took all of ten minutes to set up (put in oil and gas and run our extension cords) and it was easy to use (started on the first pull) and kept our business humming and our guests happy for the two days it took the electrical crews to restore service. It already comes with the oil you need for the oil reservoir. Took about half of the included bottle to get it to the right level. It was nice not having to hunt down a bottle of oil. Ran all night and more on one tank of gas, so it is efficient. Especially impressed with how quietly it runs. One thing I would love to see: is there a wheel & handle kit available for this model, and a rain canopy/cover I could buy so it is easier to transport and also be able to use it in the rain? Thank you, Generac, for saving our business. Best, -Jason & Giselle PS: Using two extension cords plugged into the two outlets on the generator, we ran two refrigerators, a chest freezer, a natural gas hot water heater, two lamps, and 2 CPAP units, and had some Watts to spare, plus we charged phones and tablets through the 2 USB ports on the back of the generator. We buy the most energy efficient appliances available, which means we were able to get by with a much smaller and less expensive portable generator that will fit in the back seat of a Toyota Corolla when it is boxed up, which perfectly describes the 3500IO. We recommend it highly!
