I like many features of this, but you have to completely dismantle it to use the thermal cover. Also, it leaks where the colar meets the base. No filters, no wasted electricity, so still we like it. It makes fabulous coffee, and is easy to use.

Nice product. Looks great. Keeps coffee hot for several hours. Easier and more convenient to use than my Chemex. I do worry about the possibility of breaking the detachable glass filter holder. Still, very pleased with the product.

I really liked the idea of the insulated carafe, but the problems that plagued others do exist. What it boils down to is that you must use the metal filter provided. My first batch, I used it like I would've my Chemex with a paper filter only. Because the paper filter conforms to the sides when wet, it creates a suction/ vacuum and then leaks from where the glass funnel meets the carafe. Second batch, I used the metal filter provided. No leaking, but the metal just can't keep out the fine particles that occur no matter how coarse the grind. Cleaning the metal filter is certainly more messy and isn't as easy as a paper filter, but if you're looking for a more sustainable option the metal filter isn't horrendous. The funnel isn't as large as the Chemex and because the metal filter fits flush directly into it, requires more pour-over attention to actually make enough coffee to mostly fill the insulated carafe. Which, as some have said, is a but ackward to pour from. I guess it boils down to trade offs, for me the sediment, extra cleaning and other cons just didn't outweigh the insulated carafe. I decided I'd rather keep using my Chemex and purchase a more ergonomic, handled insulated carafe.

I enjoyed the coffee and system UNTIL I went to unscrew the glass top and it broke off in my hand under very little pressure. In doing so, it cut out a little chunk of flesh from my right pinkie finger. I am in so much pain and very disappointed. If you buy this, the coffee is great, but the glass is dangerous.
