Our 22KW has been installed a few months and already run a bit over 60 hours so enough use cycles have been experienced to let me recommend this unit to anyone looking to protect their home or business from periodic, even frequent, power outages. The only points keeping me from providing an unreserved five star rating are these: The unit looks fine: functional and solid. It is loud! Focusing the noise away from your house/business should be a consideration in placement. (Probably many generators of this size and construction have similar issues but I am more aware now!) The whole house transfer switch is critical and buying this as part of the generator bundle is a great value. No matter who you choose to do the installation (from DIY to independent contractor to Generac Recommended), be aware a proper installation requires expensive wiring; potential ground excavation; and a very competent electrician comfortable in all aspects of electrical wiring; general contracting and local building codes. This too is something any generator/transfer switch install will require, but be very aware installation can be a SIGNIFICANT cost of the total project. Finally, I don't have the add on unit which allows internet alerts (I am considering this additional expense), but I think it would be very convenient. The unit functions with minimal maintenence and has smart diagnostics, but being alerted remotely would be a real plus. I think this functionality should be built into the unit in today's age at some marginal added cost. (Adding this to every unit should bring the cost down to almost nothing for the manufacturer.) Overall, very pleased with the unit, build, design and value. Were I to make a purchase again, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Generac. (In my location and situation I would/should have done it sooner!) I actually overbought for my situation. My home would likely work fine on a 16 KW, but on advice from knowlegable friends, it is always better to "overbuy" and not tax the generator than risk running at 80-100% capacity on full normal load. There are also some benefits to certain units. Shop for your needs now and in the future. This should be a great long term investment in your piece of mind and your property. Good luck!

Our all-electric home has had no alternative source of energy to provide essential heating/cooling during power outages since we moved in several years ago. The prospect of being without power for an extended period of time has always been a worry, particularly during the winter. The Generac generator removes that long-standing anxiety. It has already provided emergency power once, and performed flawlessly.

Since having it installed the power has only been lost twice, but both times, we would find ourselves freezing in place and after a few sec. away she would go, lights everything back up and running, It is very quiet when running, looks good. I love it. I am set to retire soon, always wanted to have this taken care before that time got here, best thing we done, I recommend this product everyday.

Great looking stand alone generator that I have not had the use of as yet, but just knowing it is there for me when I have a power failure gives me great piece of mind. It looks good in the cabinet, and the installation was great. Knowing that whether I am home or not, in the middle of the night, or at any time in between, my home will be protected by my automatic Generac generator.

This is the third Generac I have owned and have been satisfied with all three. The area of Hawaii I live in is plagued with power outages from a few minutes to multiple hours. The generator starts automatically and is relatively quiet. I like the self maintenance/startup feature that I have set for once a month (default is once a week). Seems to provide economical use of propane.

I live remote in the country with lightening storms and power outages. Recently a widow, it was frightening to go through these events in the dark. Now I feel secure as in seconds the power is full on and I am back up and running with lights, water(on a pump system) and even central air!!

I bought my 22KW wifi enabled unit in April of 2024 along with a service contract from my authorized installer. For the 18 months the unit reliably performed its weekly check run along with providing power during half a dozen power outages that typically lasted from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Many times I didn’t even know the generator turned on and only found out in the monthly email report. Then we had a bad snow storm in March 2026 that knocked out power for nearly 4 days. The generator ran flawlessly. I am very happy we bought this unit.

New, for me, technology vs. setting an alarm to put gas in a generator that's outside. Relatively quiet and it tests itself weekly. Only had to use 3 times, but when the lights go out before it kicks in, it's a great feeling know it's there. A complimentary product would be a surge protector that would protect the entire house.

I bought a 22kw unit for our remote cabin as a backup to random power outages due to storms. Install went as planned and we tested it several times and the generator picked up the load as planned. Considering buying one for our home. What a great peace of mind!
