Before you buy a generator try to find the parts manual for it and then try to order a generic part. Good luck. My dog ate the auxiliary shutoff switch so now I've got a useless piece of crap sitting in my yard. One call from the "monitoring" company and then nothing. I tried calling back and they acted like I was irrational. My dog destroyed the cell antenna and literally destroyed the switch. I could easily replace both IF I COULD FIND PARTS.

The Pros: Just finished installing a 18kw in our new home. Super simple and the documentation provided for site selection, installation, and initial testing was great!!! The unit cranked the first time within 10 seconds (air in the lines). Subsequent cranks are about 2 seconds. The installed unit and transfer switch look great and blend right in. The generator is smaller than our AC condenser, so its almost hidden on the side of the house. The unit maintains great voltage and frequency stability for something this small. It sags for a second or two when my AC starts and the house is already pulling a decent load, but it recovers quickly. I had read of people having trouble with their UPS units not liking generator power. None of that here. I have three different UPS units, each from a different manufacture...all are happy with the Generac output. The Cons A little loader than I thought it would be, but not bad. Inside the house, you cannot hear it running unless you are in the room immediacy next to the unit, but the neighbors without power will not like listening to it, while they sweat at night with their windows open. They need to hire a competent programmer to do something about their activation process and WiFi pairing. Thank god you only need to do it once. I am disappointed by how limited the interface to the generator is. I knew there was a subscription service, but I stupidly assumed that was only needed for remote monitoring while away from home. I expected the smart phone app to be full featured while on my local network...not the case. It tells me the Battery voltage and that is it. It does not even reflect if the unit is available, unavailable, or running. Overall, I'm recommending Generac to friends. I still think its the best choice.

I Have Been completely Satisfied with this total experience. The waiting for the Permit took longer then it should, but that's not your problem, good old government. The delivery and setup was great. The Installation crew were exceptional. Everything was neatly done and explained it as they were going along. they kept the site clean and left it that way. Mr. Russell came they next day and went thru the setup and operations procedures and then got it up and running. His unique personality and manner made it easy to understand. He took his time to make sure we understood everything.

We had Switch Electric, LLC perform the installation. They came highly recommended and I can see why. The installation went flawlessly, their explanation of the system was easy to understand and the product works incredibly well. We typically lose power here in our area at least three to four times per year and were tired of hooking up a manual generator to the house during those windy/rainy times. Thank goodness we now have the peace of mind that it will happen automatically.

The GENERAC 24kw backup generator provides home coverage in the case of an outage. Boyland Electric of Laytonsville, MD staff provided excellent service during decision and installation process. The installation, by Boyland Electric, exceeded our expectations as they arrived on time each day and kept the working area clean of debris throughout the installation. We purchased two 22Kw Whole Home Transfer Switch Back-up with Mobile Link Model: #7043 Natural Gas units in 2023. One unit for our newly built second home in south central Wisconsin and one unit for our home in SW Ohio. Both homes are approximately the same size square footage (approx. 3000sf). We could have gone with an 18Kw unit at each location, but for $500 more we went with the larger capacity unit. The WI unit has already saved us twice from power outages. Like clockwork within 8 seconds the unit kicked in and our entire home, including air conditioning, was engaged for hours like normal. We have the Mobile Link App on both units and we monitor both units in one view on our phones. Both units test weekly like normal for 5 min. The only issue we have had is the WI unit had a software firmware update that kicked the unit to RED and had to be manually reset once on-site. Hoping that will not repeat with future updates. We are very happy with these Generac products and would highly recommend for peace of mind especially with second homes where you are not there full-time.

Living down south we deal with storms half the year. I was tired of pulling out a portable generator and having it not start much of the time. I had this installed and a week later we had a storm which knocked out the electric at 2 am. It was nice to hear my generator kick on and the hum from it put my right back to sleep. Best investment for my home.

This is the 3rd generator that we have purchased. When you live in a rural area with a farm, keeping water, lights, etc. is extremely important. With each relocation over the last 20 years, we are insistent that a Generac generator be installed. We depend on being able to continue 'as normal' in all conditions. The generator has really been a great selling point for previous homes as well.
