The quality of the non stick coating is excellent compared to other brands and the included scoop is very well made too. But it is only a one cup machine. And for white rice it's only a 3/4 cup maker. Even as a single portion use it's too small if you are making Asian meals. If this were a true 2 cup machine I would have not returned it.

I bought this for a family member who is going to temporarily be living away from home. The size is perfect. The maximum amount of rice you can cook in it is 1 cup, dry. The cooker will be full of rice once it is cooked. At first use, there was a slight burning smell coming from the cooker but it dissipated after a while. The rice was perfectly done and kept warm afterwards, without burning. Some of our larger rice cookers actually burn portions of the rice in the "warm" setting. This one didn't do that. It comes with a measuring cup and a matching rice spoon (paddle). The rice paddle has little raised dots - not quite sure what this is for, but it looks cute! The great colors are a bonus (wish the aqua had been available when I needed this! I got the red, which makes for a bright spot of color in the kitchen. Love the price too, and how quickly it was delivered!

Bad reviews seem to be using an American measuring cup, which is bigger than the Asian measuring cup rice cookers come with. An Asian measuring cup is about 3/4 American cup. Use the Asian cup to add rice, then fill water to the line marked inside the cooker bowl. Easy once you know the trick.
