I'm a pro DJ who uses pro gear, but thought I might find a use for one of these. I love everything about this speaker except for one thing: a microphone just doesn't sound good on it. It seems there's some kind of feature that nulls the audio unless there's an audio signal coming in. If the person is speaking/singing loudly, it's fine. But quieter speech just isn't reproduced clearly. For me, that's a deal-breaker. If you're just looking to play music and maybe karaoke, this speaker will do great and I recommend it. But for pro-grade vocal clarity, this isn't your speaker. Rats.

Sound is pretty decent and the lights are pretty. However, the energy saving feature is the deal breaker. Speaker shuts off ever 20 minutes and you CANNOT disable this feature. ION gave recommendations on how to overcome this issue but none of them work. Extremely dissatisfied and too late to return.

CAUTION: Shuts off automatically
Sounds great, but it's purposly built to not work. No matter how you slice it, after 15 minutes of use it shuts down. In the middle of a song? Doesn't matter, just shuts off. They say this is a function for preventing power draw when not in use, but that's 100% false. You can be playing as much music at whatever sound level you like and it will still just shut down into power saving mode. Once you "wake it up" it doesn't do it again. If this was an actual power saver, it would go into power saving mode anytime it sits idle for whatever timeout period it's set for, but once you wake it up it never goes back into power saving mode again. Note the information direct from ION below, where they tell me that this is in fact an intentional design of the system. Best advice if you buy this - Turn it on, wait for it to sleep, wake it up and THEN start using it. FROM THE ION SUPPORT: The intent of the power-saving feature is of course to avoid drawing power while the speaker is not being used. Once it's in ERP mode and you power it back on, the feature is then seemingly disabled. I wasn't entirely aware of that detail of ERP mode to be honest! Some users have submitted feedback with complaints of the extra step and knowledge to avoid the speaker doing this. So I have a sense of the inconvenience it can cause - but I do assure that this was an intended feature. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Hello! To clarify, a number of ION speakers are equipped with an automatic power shut-off to save energy in compliance with the energy efficiency regulations for compact audio products. Speakers with the energy-saving function will enter an energy-saving mode after 20 minutes unless an audio signal at a moderate level is detected from the XLR Input, the Aux Input, the USB/SD media player, the Radio, or a Bluetooth connection. Great when it works
My mom bought one of these speakers and loved it. I decided to have mine delivered. Out of the box, it had a terrible static noise. I gathered it up and returned it to the store to exchange it for another one. The second speaker also had static, albeit not nearly as a badly as the first one. I know other people who have this product with no issue, so I don't know why I ended up with two lemons, but twice burnt was enough for me. Plus I purchased this product when it had a holiday discount and now I'm realizing they didn't apply it either time. I had no issue with bluetooth or the device shutting off as some reviewers have reported. I really enjoyed the speakers that other people have without the static. Your mileage may vary, but I had to send mine back.
Great Buy
I wanted something with great sound to listen to my music on my phone. Yes we are still old school and have a rack system, that sounds sweet I must say. This speaker is great! The app is a must, especially since it has an adjustable equalizer. The reason I gave it 4 stars….the stand sucks! Ours will not lock into the open position, we must be super careful when moving it because it tries to close. It definitely has a fuller, richer sound when it's on the crappy stand. Glad I got $50 off when it went on sale after purchasing it, I don't feel as cheated.

Got this bad boy last minute for my niece's bday party and they loved it. Karaoke night was a hit!

turns OFF
Randomly turns off after 10-15 min of playing will be returning it I thought it was my phone or something but nope it keeps on shutting down

Waste of money!
I purchased this speaker yesterday and it constantly cuts off while playing music! Very annoying! Will definitely be returning!

In energy-saving mode, the display and lights will turn off and audio playback will be disabled, but the unit will remain powered on in standby.To resume normal operation, simply turn a knob or press a button on the unit or remote control. To prevent automatic shut-off, an audio signal should remain active at a moderate volume level from the XLR Input, the Aux Input, the USB/SD media player, the Radio, or a Bluetooth connection. We recommend setting audio source (i.e., Aux Input or Bluetooth) volume at max and the Master Volume to 5 or higher to prevent shut-off.
Surprisingly good sound
Enough power to fill any party. Very good sound for such a low price point. Mounting is difficult and the stand doesn't feel particularly sturdy. Overall, and outstanding value for karaoke parties or just dancing. The light show is a lot of fun!
