I've purchased hundreds of bags of moisture control soil in the darker blue bags before this new look in the light blue bags. The new formula is TERRIBLE. I was used to healthy, beautiful, perfectly green plants, and now I get yellowing with purple stems. The nitrogen is sorely lacking. The soil is coated in mycelium when opening each bag, which isn't a bad thing, but there's also a lot of orange and brown mold on the surface of every bag I've opened. This new formula also creates a thick, crusty surface which makes water very difficult to penetrate the soil. Horribly disappointed. Miracle gro had a great product and for some reason went and ruined it.

his is the best soil to use for above ground gardening beds. It uses perlite to hold in moister so you don't have to water as often. It has a decent amount of food for your vegetables as well. It last about 3 months but don't forget to mix some blue water as the soil will not last the whole season without a little help.

I am so upset...I have repotted all of my indoor plants with this stuff. I thought it was normal to have so many twigs and sticks and hardly no potting soil (being a first-timer), but now that I've read the reviews, I see that I was wrong. So next year I will buy potting soil instead of potting mix. I am so disappointed in this brand.

Hate this product!! I have been gardening with Miracle Gro for over 50 years and I have never had a worse experience. I thought this Moisture control sounded like a miracle BUT when I used it for transplanting my new seedlings they slowly rotted, killing 90% of them. I also used it for geraniums and they also died. Petunias...same thing. I will never buy this product again.

My best suggestion is to not use this particular soil for potted plants and this has already been well documented on numerous websites. Every single potted plant I've used this soil on, has ended up dying from root rot. This is because the soil becomes so compacted and it doesn't allow for very good drainage. Therefore, the soil ends up holding the moisture for too long a period of time. The roots can't breath in any oxygen and the plant basically ends up drowning in all the excess water.

I brought this bag and re potted my plants after a week of being in the new soil and new pots my plants are limp and some of the leaves are dying. :( I'm guessing that maybe my plants could be in shock or something. I don't know if this is the same soil that was in the previous bags before Miracle-Gro changed the packing color. I won't buy this soil again that's for sure.

I have used this before in prior years but this year it’s different! After watering the plants the water runoff is brown and stains the deck. It appears more like peat moss than the potting soil in the prior year. Very disappointed and will not buy this in the future.

BUYER BEWARE!! I ordered twelve of these. The product I received was NOT the product pictured and described here. The item shown and described is Miracle-Gro MOISTURE CONTROL potting mix. What I received was Miracle-Gro Potting Mix. It was NOT Moisture Control potting mix. It is a cheaper potting mix than what I ordered.

I had used MiracleGro potting mix for many years. It's what my mother has always used and I continued the tradition. The past few years I've noticed that this potting mix actually contains very little soil and is actually a mix of twigs, wood chips and peat moss that does not seem to absorb water. It almost seems to repel it. I contacted Scotts a couple of years ago and took advantage of their satisfaction guarantee. I let them know I was not at all happy. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Every plant in my house is full of fungal gnats since bringing this soil in and I have now seen plenty of reviews for this product stating the same. It doesn't control moisture at all; I've been waiting for weeks for my plants to dry out and they are still damp. No wonder the gnats won't away. Don't buy this, unless you want to kill your plants or spend money trying to get rid of tons of stubborn gnats.
