The mythology behind the liqueur stretches back to 615 AD when coffee beans were first cultivated and first distilled in the Yucatan. Kahlua is made from a base of sugar cane (rum) rather than grain and was first officially produced in 1936 as a part of Allied Domecq but it was the redefined formula from 1962 that is known today. The liqueur was sold to Pernod-Ricard in 2005. The term kahlua is roughly translated as "house of the Acolhua people," a tribe connected to the Aztecs in the Meso-American cultures. Kahlua Licor de Cafe is the flagship label and one of the top-selling liqueur brands in the world. It's featured in legions of cocktails, including the popular White Russian.

I bought a bottle some weeks ago - 20% alc/vol. Yesterday I bought another one, only 16% alc/vol. How can both be "The Original"? I loved the one with 20% for white russians. The one with 16% is okay, a bit too sweet and not strong enough for heavy drinks. ;) Got to use some more vodka for sure.

I have only had this mixed with Bailey's Irish Cream and a butterscotch liqueur. But it was very good. The taste was a mixture of coffee in cream topped by butterscotch. I don't think this needs to be changed at all. And I will definitely be buying it again.

A little sweet for some people's taste but I absolutely love it. Ice this baby, drink it straight or mix with some Irish cream and vodka. Personally I like to just keep it in the fridge, I feel like icing it, waters it down. Either way its yummy.. There are many recipes you can follow online!

Please add Kahlua Original Coffee Liqueur to your Liqueur collection. On my days off, or ladies night, even picnics I bring my Kahlua out. I love, if the bottle had a handle for easy pouring. either way I love this Liqueur. My coffee loves it, lol

The first thing that comes to mind whenever I see [product:kahlua-original-coffee-liqueur] is "the dude abides". The key ingredient of one of the best refreshing drinks, the white Russian. Always good when relaxing at the end of a hard day or if your getting the weekend started by the pool. Kahlua has that great coffee taste that blends well with anything you want to mix it with.

im a huge fan of kalua i buy it every Christmas with the little glass mugs mix it with my coffee and enjoy Christmas afternoon while my kidos play with all the new toys the flavor is full bodied and smooth if you like bailey's you'll love this, a must have for the holiday's or anytime you like to make a milky based mixer delicious yummers

I always make sure I have a bottle on hand so that my visitors can add this to their coffee, topped off with some whipped cream and a shake of cocoa powder on top. We also add this to ice-cream and blend it up to make the perfect cocktail drink to serve our guest.

Love love love! I don't drink it enough and often forget to order it when I go out. But everytime I have it I remember why I love it. It's got a good coffee flavor that doesn't taste artificial. At the end of the day I'm a basic bish and what do we love more than our vodka? Our coffee! so Kahlua is a natural besty.
