Once my son outgrew his infant carrier, it was time to find a new car seat. I really liked the slim look of the Diono R3, and the price was good as well. In my opinion, it is a lot better than some of the bigger, bulkier convertible car seats on the market. I also love that it comes in nice, bright colors. It is well-built and very heavy due to the steel frame. I see that it can technically be used for a newborn, but I personally do not think it would be a great fit for a baby that small. What you see is what you get, so there is not any kind of newborn insert or head support. My son is 1, and he fits well in it, but of course, he has great head control, which a newborn definitely does not have. I also like that it does not have cup holders (but you can buy them to match separately), because they just tend to take up more space. I like it better as an optional add-on. One thing I was worried about is when my son falls asleep, because without any kind of head support, I figured his head would just flop around or fall forward. Actually, though, the thick memory foam harness pads kind of act as a little pillow when he falls asleep and lays his head over, so no worries! Maybe that could work the same way for a newborn to help support their little head as well. Word of warning, though, that if you plan to use it rear facing like we are, the Diono Angle Adjuster is a MUST-HAVE accessory! Without it, the car seat rear facing is way to reclined and the front seat has not room at all (my knees were touching the dash and my husband couldn't even get in to drive). We immediately ordered the Angle Adjuster, and it's just a foam pad that you slide under the car seat to make it sit more upright. It makes a massive difference in the space the front seats have. Without it, we wouldn't have been able to use the car seat in our 2022 Toyota Corolla rear facing, which I want to do for as long as possible with our son. But the Angle Adjuster is not to be used with babies who cannot sit up on their own or who do not have total head support. Basically, we couldn't have used this car sear rear facing with our son as a newborn in our car because of the really reclined positioning without the Angle Adjuster. I have read reviews about this car seat being hard to install, but I found it quite easy, even as a first-time mom). It is heavy, so that was a factor that made it only slightly more difficult to handle in such a small space, but it tightened up nicely and I am overall very satisfied with this purchase!

We purchased this due to our car seat breaking while in a trip. Even though the seat states it is safe and recommended for 5lbs and up I do not feel comfortable with our 7 month old who weighs 20lbs. Minimal padding or support if an emergency should occur. I do think it would be a r get ray seat once she is a toddler but not before then. Only one recline position for rear facing and even in a larger suv it made the front seat sit very far forward.

Love that it's narrow and fits in all types of vehicles. Hate how hard it is to adjust the straps or do literally any adjusting to this seat. You have to take the whole car seat out to adjust straps and it's the biggest pain in the butt and planning on buying a different brand of car seat to replace this one.

first thing, these seats are very well made and pretty! the colors are far better than the pictures. i needed three, i got a pink, blue and a red. they are all very easy to adjust and buckle in. all three seats fit across the back row of my dodge grand caravan, which was a must with another child on the way. i saw alot of reviews about the instructions, they are there. theres a pocket on the inside of the cover(look from the back of the seat left side i believe, you dont have to remove the cover, it is tucked inside) i absolutely love these seats, and very well may be replacing my youngest seats with these soon!

Love this car seat but let me tell you its HEAVY its solid. It fits nicely in my Prius which I also have a CubexSironaS which I wish I got 2 Diono car seats But no lies were told the seat is slim and definitely would be able to fit 3 across even in my Prius color is nice I wish it was MORE padded

Very easy to install. The seat is very comfortable for a big kid. I am very excited because I will then be able to use it for my toddler. Definitely worth the money!!

My husband and I could not get this tight no matter how we tried. Apparently if you rear face there is an additional tether strap that helps, but my car seat did not come with one. It was incredibly frustrating and a waste of money.

First off, I have not installed the seat yet to fully review it but just from looking at it, it is really nice quality, material is thick and soft. I ordered the all black and I love the simplicity. The seat is extremely heavy for a car seat but considering this isn't one you take in and out I like that its heavy making it sturdier. Now on to the hidden instructions, I read many reviews before making my purchase that said the product did not come with instructions but I made the purchase anyway thinking ill just look them up online. The instructions are somewhat hidden and I would not have found them had I not watched at youtube video related to this specific seat. I just wanted to show everyone the product DOES in fact come with a small book of instructions and heres where you can find them: ...or you can just watch the youtube video like I did which honestly made for easier installation. I just typed in "Diono Radian 3R and clicked the manufacturer's video. I hope this helps!
