Tastes pretty good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Haven't had a root beer in a while and this was pretty good. 0 sugar and still fairly sweet. FYI for those that do not consume aspartame, this drink does contain that. Otherwise, I'd like it even more.

All the taste without the sugar

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A&W is childhood. I can remember indulging the delicious beverage as a child. However, being more conscious of my sugar intake, I have substituted for zero sugar and have been delighted not to lose that same magnificent taste in the transition.

Great product when you can find it

I absolutely love this soda but can never find it especially if I need to have it delivered. I am legally blind and cannot drive and my husband is tired of going to every store trying to find it. You can only blame the pandemic for so long. So unfortunately, I will no longer try.

Awesome

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried a single can of this root beer my first time and I was so impressed. I definitely could not tell it was a zero sugar item at all! I've purchased it several times since and enjoy it when I need my soda cravings satisfied.

Great Taste

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I alway used to love getting a nice refreshing root beer but as we have gotten older, regular soda gives us heartburn. We love this one so much because it has zero sugar, doesn’t give us heartburn but still tastes great!

The best!

This is the best root beer, and it is sugar free and caffeine free too. It has a sharp yet smooth creamy rich taste, definitely a classic. I think it's better than the original. Only drawback is that it sometimes takes a while for the bubbles to settle down.

Tastes great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Zero sugar root beer tastes amazing. I typically drink diet sodas and have been loving the "zero" options. I really think they taste so much more like a regular soda. The root beer is excellent and a perfect caffeine free option.

Diet Root Beer now seems flat...

I thought it was just the 8 2litre bottles I bought so just bough a new 8 bottle 2l and these are flat too. Either the recipe change or the bottle process? Please go back to whatever you were doing a few months ago. We used to love the diet Root Beer as the carbonation seemed to make it not taste like most diet drinks. It tasted even better than the sugar version... Not anymore it seems flat.

Not what it was.

It is clear that Zero Calorie is different from, and in my opinion inferior to, its predecessor, A&W Diet Root Beer. The new version is not bad, and I will drink it; but over time I expect the amount I buy and drink to diminish because it is not as good. The biggest difference is in the finish, though the boldness of the overall taste and the carbonation and sweetness levels also seem to have been tweaked. The pleasant vanilla finish is gone, replaced by one that is metallic and has a touch of toothpaste-like faux mint. I doubt that it is a coincidence that the new packaging does not state “made with aged vanilla,” as the Diet Root Beer cans, bottles and cartons proudly proclaimed. I know there are apologists/publicists claiming that this is just a rebranding and the “formula” is unchanged. That strikes me as disingenuous. While the ingredients list has not changed, when comparing the two versions side by side it is obvious that there has been a change within one all-important listed ingredient: the “natural and artificial flavors.” I hope the owners of the A&W brand will see fit to either change it back or to reintroduce the original Diet version as an alternative.

Definitely Diet

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having received the A&W Zero Sugar Root Beer soda to try was exciting. I love root beer and was hoping I found a new way to enjoy it without the guilt. So, when I received my can I quickly looked at the ingredients to see what made this sugar-free. I was immediately disappointed to see that they had used Aspartame to sweeten the root beer. I wish they would have gone with a different sweetener like Sucralose. Aspartame gives me migraines so I decided to drink a small amount so that I could at least try the soda. I chilled the the soda and waited a few hours. I then poured about a third of the can into a glass and proceeded to drink the soda. I definitely could taste the fake sugar but that is pretty common in sugar-free drinks. The soda was definitely root beer and tasted very good. It was a crisp root beer flavor that I love from A & W. I loved it! I would recommend this to anyone not adverse to Aspartame.I would definitely purchase this if it wasn't for the Aspartame!
