I have recently learned that carrageenan is a very controversial ingredient. Why is it in so many products?

I was very happy with the product, ordering and mostly delivery. I setup a recurring order but have put it on pause due to the large price increase.

I have at least one a day. More if I need extra calories/vitamins. Best refrigerated, but not needed.
