You used to be able to truly customize every aspect of these cakes but now you can’t, since corporate changed their policies. You have to choose from 1 of 3 color combos they provide. You are better off going somewhere else and getting the design and colors you really want.

I ordered an 80th bday cake for my mother’s surprise birthday party 2 wks ago. I asked for a specific specialty cake that was white and was to be decorated and written in gold. When I picked it up the night before the party, I was sorely disappointed. The cake was mostly what I had ordered, but the words were sloppily written in an ugly brown color (that did NOT go well with the gold around the cake), and not properly spaced out to fill the area. When I asked the employee why it wasn’t written in gold, as requested, and she simply responded, “We don’t have gold” for writing. I was very upset and almost left with this poorly done cake when I decided that I had to go back and talk to someone else to see if they can help me. That’s when I met Letty! She listened to my concerns and was very empathetic, understanding, and willing to help! After 15 minutes, she had this cake fixed up so incredibly well that I could not believe it was the same cake! I wish I could post the before and after pictures!!! Not only was our family raving over the beauty of this important milestone birthday cake, but it was absolutely delicious, as well! I will be requesting that Letty, from the Allentown, PA Sam’s Club bakery, be the talent that makes any future cakes I order!

I was going to order a cake at the store for a trunk party in about a month... the service is now online so I went into it to see how to upload a photo, etc... the options to be creative are NOT there... very disappointing and very limited options. I won't be ordering my cake from Sam's. 😣

The new system to order online only even when you are at the store it's really bad. It doesn't allow you to properly customize the cakes. I used to be able to pick a theme and still change the colors on the frosting to match our celebration better, but now this option is gone. Also, smaller cakes with Cupcakes were available. And now they are not It also forces you to pay with a credit card even though this item used to be EBT eligible. If you want to have a online option, that's okay, but bring back the option to do it on paper at the store so I can get it properly customized.

Now that Sam's has gone to online cake orders, you have less options for cake customization. I've always looked to Sam's for great, affordable cakes, but I will have to look for another option to get the kind of decorations I want. I'm very disappointed.
