Useful but with caution

Works great but be careful on metal/iron railings and porches. I used this on my sidewalk and porch with good success however my back iron porch quickly started rusting after just one use of this product.

Excel Snow & Ice Melt is a Winner

The Excel Snow & Ice Melt works as expected and took care of my driveway and side walk. The performance of the Ice Melt was great especially in the very low temperatures we have recently experienced.

Cool product , terrible packaging

Love the product, works well even in real cold temps. Product had not clumping inside pail and was a pure white in color so not dirty looking. My issue is with the pail lid. Super difficult to get the lid off.

reply from Salt Expert

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the trouble you had opening this pail. Here are some instructions for opening the pail direct from the pail manufacturer. Begin to open package by breaking off tamper evident tab, Grip tear tab firmly with right hand while holding package with left hand, pull tear strip of cover horizontally to tear off, re-locate hand grip closer to package during pulling process, place hand under locking tab from cover and lift tab to disengage lid from pail, continue to disengage locking tabs in order to remove cover. If you have any additional questions, you can reach us at 1-800-844-2022.

Better than salt!!

Great stuff! It doesn't stick to the bottoms of your boots/shoes like salt does. The pellets are much smaller than salt crystals, so it melts quicker and keeps ice from forming back again pretty well. No more sweeping up salt crystals in the hallways again!

Awesome product!!!

I have been using this product for several years. I won't use anything else! When you put it down where you need it, it almost works immediately. Also it won't damage walkways and driveways the way salt or other products do. And don't have to use as much. 50lbs goes along way. Getting ready to stock up. Looks like we are in for a rough winter this year. Hope this was helpful

Great for the really cold days.

I picked this up last winter for the same price ~$20 for the 50lb pail. The calcium chloride pellets didn't clump at all during the winter, even though I only left the lid snapped down on 1 - 2 tabs. It ate through the ice really well, even on the coldest days. I didn't notice any damage to the walkway stones or concrete steps at all. Great value, 50lbs goes a long way.

Best ice melt I've ever used.

It may seem pricey at first, but a little of these calcium pellets goes a long way. It''s better for my dog's paws, and my concrete walks and porch. Rock salt is Ok on the streets and alleys but it's hard on my pet's feet, concrete ,and my floors. Excel Snow & Ice Melt also works better than salt in sub zero temperatures. I LOVE IT!!

Good Product. Safe for Concrete

Our company is responsible for removing snow from rental property that has concrete as well blacktop surfaces. This product is effective and does not cause the concrete to flake like salt. It is more expensive than salt, but it works well and is necessary to protect concrete surfaces.
